its secret is the 4 or 5 layers of shield protecting a weapon that totally concentrates on one spot. However, that is only for forward facing targets. if the target moves at all (L/R), the ions basically reset all of its damage to burn through another hole in the opponent.
Cerberus Strengths: 1 v 1, non-moving opponents, sustained fire.
Cerberus Weaknesses: 1 v many, moving targets, missiles, EB, maneuverability
I recommend sticking those railguns into the long arms instead of the slots for maximum damage. keep ions in the slots tho. Your redesign is pretty good, but it was probably more expensive than necessary.
All that back protection is unneccessary, and the extra shields on the outer arms are totally useless. Trade them for a railgun or three and a slimmer design.
The Cerberus's main strength is its multiple layers of shields, but you did not include those in the design, weakening the frontal armor.
I might as well try my hand at it when I get the chance.
