Battleships are mostly about armour with on the whole less manoeuvrability and offensive capacity because of it, therefore I use heavy cruisers, however Superheavy cruisers scale up the destructive power/mass of a heavy cruiser exponentially, and megaheavy cruisers are yet more effective, though much harder to man because of their gargantuan size.

Three "Nicodemus-Regis" Class Superheavy Cruisers with five "Nicodemus" Class Heavy Cruiser escorts act on information gathered by a "Stalker" Class scanship and jumps into Thrawn's Empire space (Without permission), they wait at the next Hegemony target alert for enemy incursion.

Several hours later, they receive a report of a colony going dark.

The ships immediately jump, arriving mere seconds after the report is received, they scan for hegemony ships, if none are present they use the data trails to jump to the attacker's present location immediately

Upon further examination, the alternate universe has similarities to that of the Infinite Empire's home universe

the 8 ships transverse the "Gap" between the universes in the blink of an eye, arriving with their stasis fields up

They find themselves deposited several lightyears away from Coruscant, or at least where they assumed it should be, there were no transmissions detected leaving the system, in fact an incredibly powerful psionic barrier could be detected blocking entry into the system. Probes simply bounce harmlessly off and FTL courses through seem to always redirect to where they started.
