Making weapons in a 2D world can be quite difficult as there are only so many interesting weapon mechanics you can make, but there are some weapons that I just haven't seen yet..
1. Shotgun style weapons
We are in desperate need of a shotgun type weapon. No weapon in Cosmoteer benefits from being really
close to enemies and shotguns are just so awesome. @TheHealingDoctor has a flak gun that is a shotgun,
but i've seen not much else.
2. Mortar
4 barrels allow for deployment of 4 massive shells in quick succession that move painfully slow.
2 wide by 3 long
Takes a lot of ammo and is inaccurate and are blocked by shields, but, upon impact split into 3 medium
shells and travel further into a ship.
Nothing special, easy to counter, but still scary.
3. Firestarter weapon
umm, napalm please?
maybe a 1x2 structure that has a 60 degree arc of fire.
shoots a medium size shell that upon impact has a 90% chance to set most of the room on fire. (has piercing
too!) Good for distracting crew!
deals little impact damage.
4. Crew Stun
Some sort of impact weapon that does no damage and maybe bypasses shields and stuns all crew in one room for like 5 seconds. slow rate of fire.
5. Plasma Cannon
Like the large cannon, but uses energy instead.
Bypasses 1 shield and deals high impact damage.
0 piercing. Projectile is slow.
6. Unguided swarm missiles
1x3 and launches 6 missiles in a straight line towards the enemy.
10 degree spread and 30 degree arc of fire.
Can be shot down by PD.
