I found an interesting game called Glest. It's free and open source game where we can make, edit, and download techtrees and factions. There are three versions of this game: Glest, MegaGlest, and Glest Advanced Engine.
Pros:
- Simple and very fun
- Completely free
- Open source. I can improve this game anytime I want.
- Easy to mod with XML language (idk I haven't tried to mod before)
- The most obvious custom faction strategy game. You can add techtrees, factions, units, buildings, anything!
Cons:
- No campaign
- Lack of dynamic animations
- Amateur unit voices (but I like the voice of the Sheep, it's hilarious)
Just like Warzone 2100, the game is kinda old. It was about a decade ago right before my idea came. Thus, I canceled my rts idea completely. Instead, I can be the biggest contributor to the game or improve the game because the game is open source.
I am not even mad though, I am interested! I just need to make a bunch of stuff for my mod on MegaGlest and don't bother with that my silly long undeveloped idea anymore.
