many lightyears away a single GSR Kriegskutter picks up a signal:

"Vhat is it? Oh Ich sehe... Send message home, wir will investigate zis signal..."
The Kriegskutter turns and then FTLs towards the signal, but it probably will take a long time to reach it...

ATC #1: You are vectored for landing pad 4...
ATC #4728: Move to industrial sector 2B...
ATC #5382: Okay transition to the landing radio.
The man starts twisting a dial, as he switches to a busier zone with more need for attention.
The radio light turns on, signalling his arrival to a channel. It doesn't seem familiar though.
ATC #5382: This is 5382, any new..
The radio is flushed with white noise, then a voice is faintly heard by 5832
Uh... hey 5832? Can I call you something different?
err... Jack?
Yeah sure. Back to reality!
Jack: Wut? Is this the right channel? Hello?
No response is heard.
Jack: I... guess I will send the audio log to the boss....
He continues with his day
