A. Make the diamond fuse with the other grams, making it bigger or more dense.
B. It compacts the diamond down, making it extremely heavy.
However, there is a very rare third option. About .001635%.
C. The diamond mixes with carbon, but it heats up so much that it turns into a sort of ....Highly Dense Molten Crystal. This crystal cools down very quick ,but when mixed with other materials,the "diamond" turns itself inside out,due to the massive amount of pressure that other objects put on it.

That way the diamond doesn't burn through the mixing vat, floor, and one foot of dirt. However, these are know as Saturnium Diamonds, due to the diamonds have a reaction toward the nitrogen, causing it to have a thick bulge that comes out the middle.
