...Ilran and Daria looked at each other, Adams just disappeared into the vent system screaming "Stay here" though not entirely clear to who of them and then there´s the Hospitaliers group that is assaulted by the adolescent Kragans...She spoke first "Well it seems to be time to split."...he sighs, "Fine, I´ll go to the other Group with Cairn and you´ll stay here with Taran, waiting for Adams, we´ll stay in contact." ...without any further words he walked off with one of the escorts to the approximate position of the Hospitaliers Group, she waved "Good luck, honey!", her escort rolled his eyes, unseen...
...further away Ilran sent a message to the Hospitaliers, /Ilran here, I´m coming to your position with one of our escorts, try to hold them off until then, suggesting something like incendiary grenades to block their paths or flares to desorient them as they´re nocturnal./ ...afterwards he sent another message, one of the TATC escort ships recived it and started moving...

Adams hears a faint weeping in the distance...
As the troopers release the burning fire, the howling stops. The Kragans have entered battle, becoming quiet. They do not attack though the fire, and the troopers could get a few pot shots off if they dare to invest the ammo...

Adams navigates toward the sound, he can see in the darkness almost as well as in daylight and calls out reassuringly to whatever is weeping
"Hello? who is there? I am a doctor, do not be afraid."

Doc hears the small Kragan weeping. It is clearly hurt and sits near its mother, that was shot by troopers a while ago.

A Kragan goes down by the explosions, and a second wounded one pulls itself out of sight... But there are a lot more out there and they just learned that attacking while the fire is burning, is a bad Idea. So they wait. TIme is on their side. what will you do?

...Ilran has traveled about 3/4 of the way to the Hospitaliers position by now, though as there has been no answer he wasn´t sure if they were still alive.../Hospitaliers, we need your exact position, we´re almost there, are there any blast doors in range?/
...in the meantime Daria studied the physical structure of the Kragans looking for any weakpoints they did not know about yet, the escort constantly keeping the surroundings under observation...

The mother Kragan is certainly dead, its brains have been blown out by explosive ammunitiion and its body is scarred by fire. The small kragan slightly taps it and snuggles against it, while weeping in pain and fear...

A Kragan surprises Ilran as he walks around a corner. It seems to have been left behind because it was hurt. Severe explosion damage can be seen on the poor animal. Still it tries to bite at him..

...the moment Ilran sees the Kragan he jumps a meter backwards and a moment later his escort came around the corner and fired another telepathic pulse from his weapon...

A trooper narrowly misses shooting Ilran then looks sheepish

...Ilran pulls out his medical scanner and scans the Kragan and compares the given biodata to see if it is infected and what the status of the virus is after the Kragans head got hit with the telepathic pulse, if it is indeed infected...

It is infected and the virus couldnt react fast enough... This time the virus does not seem to boil the brain but any action could awaken that reaction...

...Ilran remembers that an attempted extraction of the virus will most likely kill the host, though as it seems to be knocked out just like the beast it is apparently at least somewhat sentient, he starts scanning the viruscells without interfering with the Kragans body, while the escort pulled another bipyramidical object out of his belt, he tapped it a few times, it´s edges began glowing in a dim purple and he placed it near the unconscious kragan without disturbing it...
...the escort then turns towards the Hospitaliers, "Are the others still after you? Adams has ran after the immune Kragan into a vent and Daria and Taran are currently waiting infront of it."

...the escort looked at the respirators and frowned, "We should probably get moving and meet up with Daria, Taran and Adams...as soon as Ilren is finished with scanning that is."...in the meanwhile Ilren seemed to be completely sunk into the data on the medical scanner...
...meanwhile at the other group Daria had went though the biodata of the Kragans several times now, until her escort spoke to her, "Heavy steps, reptilian, seems Adams is coming back and is carrying something." ...she nodded and they took a few steps away from the vent...there were apparently no significant weakspots on the Kragans that weren´t already obvious beforehand, Light should blind them rather easily while hunting in the dark due to being nocturnal, prefered targets might be the head or in close combat their abdomen or hind legs, aswell flames should keep them away and colder temperatures should slow down their movements as they originate from a tropical environment...
...as for the virus it seems to show extreme reaction to attempts of being removed from the host, though rendering the host unconscious should be enough to prevent danger from the raised aggression levels as the virus cannot take complete control of the body by itself...

Lieutenant Steel: " Thank goodness you have arrived, our weapons seem to be having increasingly less effect on the beasts as they appear to be learning ways round them, one of my men is wounded severely, they appear to have fallen back now though since you have arrived, i am increasingly worried about my men though as the only contamination prevention equipment we currently posess are these respirators"

Adams moves to the pup and strokes it, he uses his medical sampler to take a sample of the mother Kragan's scent, and replicates it in his portamed dispensary, he then makes a soft sling out of some bandages around him and makes it smell with the replicated scent, he then carefully lifts the pup into the sling trying to soothe it and starts to make his way back along the duct
Adams: "There there little one..."

The pup slowly starts to sleep and drifts away into slumber...
