So... in an attempt to waste my own time, I built this ship here. It is basically an missile boat with an escape pod with an escape pod with an escape pod. Since the smallest escape pod is the only part of the ship with a control room, each escape pod must be deployed in order. I also set up the keybindings for all the explosive charges, to save you some trouble (1,2,3 will select each stage of explosive charges). Just so you know, the ship wasn't really well designed, so it won't perform to well anyway. It was mainly just to prove a point.

I also took the liberty of comparing the pros and cons of escape pods
PROS:
- Corpse can serve as a destraction to larger ships as the smaller escape pod can get into a new position or run away
- Since the small escape pod has the control room (and not the main ship), it holds onto the repair blueprints, and can be repaired when far enough from battle.
- Better use of internal spaces for large ships.
- Allows more surface area for dakka (weaponry), since the ship can reveal a new layer of weaponry when escape pod is deployed
- Looks cool
CONS:
- Makes it hard to measure crew recourses/power
- Can take up unnecessary space
- Needs well planned decouplers
I'd like to see some of you encorperating escape pods into your own ship designs! Try and use my escape pod launch bay below:

Enjoy!
