The munitions from the Gauss Cannons arrive at the same time as the ship and tear it open it a raging ball of light and fury. Unfortunately, the black holes, contained until then by special energy fields, rip through the wreckage, still moving at .8c. The imminent destruction of the star is halted, but as the singularities impact the star and flares break out all across its massive surface, they start a much slower, but far more insidious death for the system primary. Ultimately, the Admiral's brave actions have but forestalled the end, as sheets of radiation sweep across the inner system, wreaking havoc with electronics. Even with the greatest factions in the galaxy working to stop it, it's only a matter of time until the UG homeworld is reduced to a barren, irradiated rock.
