As far as the shield goes (hold on, I'm a gonna rant) The Last Jedi was BULLSHIT. Cool BS, but still BS. Hyperspace is a separate dimension from real space. When the Detonators impacted the shields on the planet and shipyard, they were moving in real space at a significant percentage of lightspeed.
That kinetic energy though was not the main factor in breaking the shield. That was due to the massive amounts of energy released when the antimatter tanks on the ship exploded. As an example of how powerful those tanks are when they go boom, I tested a model with four tanks and it slagged straight through four Star Destroyers. Now, note that it took an entire blast from one of these puppies with fourteen tanks strapped to just to crack that shield.
How's that for a testament to Imperial engineering, if it took a full force blast from what is essentially a fleet-killer to crack it open, and there was only minimal leakage?
