Running Cosmoter with Linux / Wine

I found out I was running both ALSA and Pulselinux (Ubuntu 16.04).
I removed Pulseaudio completely, restarted, but had the exact same crash in Cosmoteer.
Reinstalled Pulseaudio, restarted, same crash again. (and I had to reinstall volume control by the way)
So no luck here (yet)

Might be a driver issue. What happens if you disable your sound card/change the driver?

I tried disabling different parts of the sound stack but I don't think I've disabled things "deep enough" to make a difference. I'll look into that.

Okay, I tried running Cosmoteer again and it crashed. Cosmoteer log:

EDIT: This also seems to be a sound problem, judging by the Cosmoteer log.

Unfortunately I screwed up the extra logging I added and it's not giving me the info I need. Will have to wait for the next update. (Probably pretty soon.)

Looking back, I realized that I only got the blue screen (of death) when launching Cosmoteer for the first time. The second time it crashed.
Also, I just realized I don't have any USB sticks, and I can't use VMs (crappy laptop). The multi-distro testing might take a while.

I've been able to completely scrap all sound modules from the kernel, the crash is exactly the same.
No problem waiting for next version. I'm glad I can be of some help, and I'm impressed by the speed at which you reply and release.

I don't think I have much of anything new to add, but I figured I might as well throw my logs into here as well.
I'm running Arch Linux, Kernel version 4.11.9.

Error Report (I don't know if this is a problem on my end, but I no longer have a Cosmoteer folder in C:\users\user\Saved Games after installing 12.7, so I do not get any logs there upon crashing.

Wine (2.11 Staging) Dump

EDIT: I just updated to the newest version of Wine Staging (2.12) and when i ran Cosmoteer, the black screen now had a loading bar, and it also opened up the main menu. It allowed me to start a new game, however around 10 seconds after I started a new game, the game crashed and gave the same error as above.

After upgrading to wine 2.12, I too get to see the loading bar and the main menu ! And the same error crashes the game, too, but before I can start a new game or reach settings (I would have tried to disable sound :p )

pipo Try launching cosmoteer again. The first time after installing/updating it seems to work better.

Ok, I replaced wine-staging with wine, will update after trying to start the game.

EDIT: Got to a blue screen with a cursor and immediately crashed.

Interestingly, I don't have any settings.txt file in the expected place (users/xxx/Saved Games/Cosmoteer).
I've tried running and re-running the game, the first time after installing/updating is no different. Maybe there is something related to timing, like a race condition, and the first time you run it, the game loads more slowly, which changes the behaviour of the crash somehow. Just a guess.
Do you have a settings.txt ? I've searched for it in the whole wine drive and there is nothing.

That's because I moved it. It's now in Documents\My games\Cosmoteer.
