Hi fellow cosmoteers, with the new .12 out and about I thought I'd share some of my newest designs with you. This time I got hold of some Y - Wing blueprints and tried to realize a design as close to them as possible. The components mentioned in the blueprints are present and in roughly the right places (at least all that have some kind of representation in Cosmoteer). Since there is nothing like multiple elevation levels (or turrets that can shoot over parts), I split the ion turret into bolt throwers at the front and a small cannon at the back. Als the torpedo thrower would be under the cockpit so I had to think of a good location for the missile pods.



This version has it's own missile factory, though I'd like to change that in the future when ships can dock to rearm/resupply. The secondary and primary sensor arrays do exist, though I'd advise you to switch at least the secondary ones off if you actually want to enter any kind of close combat (even a lot of crew won't cope well with the task of supplying sensors, missiles, shields and weapons at the same time). Staying far out and simply firing missiles though is of course a real possibility with that kind of missile and sensor reach. Also I noticed that the ship actually got kinda big (it's more the size of the small transports I normally build).
In consequence I made a second version that's only half as big (while still trying to cram all of the right components in the right places). Some sacrifices had to be made (It doesn't have an ammo factory anymore, so you have to paste a new one in if you want a fresh payload). Nevertheless all the major pieces are still there and I'm quite happy with how it turned out


Sometimes the missiles will just ram straight into the front section of their own ship when igniting. Since the space they have is kinda thight, I dunno what I can do about this.
One last thing, hitting missile pods is fun, since you can basically blow the naycells off of these things 😃
