We need them.

12.7mm Guns: 50 cal. Machine guns for ripping fighters and light armors apart.

20mm Guns: Slightly stronger than the 50 cal. fires at a little slower rate, good for gunboats

30mm Guns: Heavier and stronger than 50 cal and 20mm . Fires at a lower rate tho

50mm Guns: Much slower fire , packs a bigger punch.

Of all the choices among chemically propelled weapons I'm only interested in the 36 mm canon @1500 RPM.

Endgamers

I would like to see some point defense weapons to take down missiles whenever those are introduced. Maybe a small bore gatling gun which would do little damage to shields and armor but which could take down missiles. You could then use the gatling for fighters as it would require no power (fuel). You just have to return the fighter to the carrier ship to rearm.
