Here's the thing: I love the FTL requirements and solar systems and all, but It makes it feel way to lonely with only 3-4 other ships. Before bases could be something practical, I'd think one thing: There would have to be less, bigger solar systems, and auto spawning on the edge of that portion of the map. That way there would be a bigger point in having a base. It's still pretty safe, but it doesn't seem like it's a nuisance all the time. My one cent.
