Since the new patch, my 3-part Ion Cooker ship (in the picture) is completely useless. It no longer ever turns when given an attack command, just keeps flying forward. The same issue happens for move commands that aren't point-blank. Before the new collision avoidance patch it was still difficult to control, but much easier than it is now. Pre-patch attack commands functioned properly and the majority of move commands worked, not just those given point-blank.
I realize that this is likely intended behavior for the collision avoidance system. The one large ship probably keeps trying to "avoid" the 2 sub-ships, which would probably work perfectly in any normal situation. That being said, it makes this ship design completely unuseable, as well as several other prototypes I've been working on.
I know this looks like a meme ship, but it is (was) actually an effective design. It reliably beats the ragnarok for 1/2 the cost, can sometimes beat the terror for less than 1/4 the cost, can fight toe-to-toe against meta walls in multiplayer, and can be assembled from the 3 component ships before most enemies can cross the "long" option starting distance. I was even planning to enter it in the recent January tournament.
I would of course prefer to make collision avoidance an option (a checkbox under the "flight direction" menu?), but any change that makes this and similar multi-part ships useable again would be amazing.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into Cosmoteer! It's an incredibly fun game, and I love the creativity it allows for!
