Does anyone have any thruster setups that actually look nice instead of the poop looking thruster cubes or just lines of thrusters? Any suggestions on how to make it look better? Good looking ships usually just don't have enough thrusters.

for med-large ship I sometimes make the thrusters at the back sort of curved inwards.

Jakeblake Well, you could tesselate an array of thruster blocks. That's about it. You have to do internal thrusters because there's no other way to get sufficient density of reverse thrust otherwise and they'll pretty much always wind up rectangles if you're being efficient.

Equalizer

Jakeblake You can try to make the thrusters look better by mixing together the different sizes of thrusters into a "composite" thruster. The engine when it fires also looks less repetitive by doing this. Of course, this is less efficient but there will pretty much always be some efficiency loss in trying to making a ship look good.

Here's a ship where I've mixing together the different sizes of thrusters. I think it looks 'less bad'. I guess it depends on how fussy your are.
