Any simple ways of making blueprint effects? I currently use Gimp and I'm just not sure how to get the mix of transparency, glow and color right.

To be more specific its the glow and transparency of the internal "doodad" parts that get me. The walls on the other hand are rather easy to match with the original versions.

To make the blueprint icon, I use the paintbrush and change the way the brush works to the 'color' tool to paint it all blue. That is in Photoshop.

yeah I tried that but it also has a level of transparency and glow(?) to it, that I cant seem to easily recreate. Actually I did once but I was messing with it for so long I don't even remember how I did it. It also seems to use two different shades of blue one for the internal parts and a normal dark blue for the walls.

And even my best versions don't look right. So I want to go over them all at the same time now and set em up properly, which I feel there must be some simple "recipe" I'm missing. But I just cant figure it out.

Vary glow(ie), Possibly some highlighting of the edges? and seemingly two shades of blue. For the difference between the walls and internal parts. Which plays out in the game when it blinks red.
