Notes
The Scavangers have officially collapsed. Growing threats of a greater being coming to attack have been known for too long, but whatever action that was taken happened too late. This is the story of the end of the Scavangers.
p.s. I was camping when @Bubbet locked the original Scavanger's thread ¯_(ツ)_/¯
p.p.s I am currently taking quite a few guesses as to the state of many factions. Just go along with it
p.p.p.s As far as any faction, entity, or anyone is concerned, the Scavangers have been utterly decimated, no alliances with the Lightning Union can form.
p.p.p.p.s In relation to the previous posts, don't go around splashing cash at us. Remember: You have no idea the Lightning Union exist.
p.p.p.p.p.s @ , all the original Scavanger leaders are dead, ok? Don’t go around trying to mess up my law. Rust will remain an anomaly, but for technical reasons he is now dead... and morian.
p.p.p.p.p.p.s In any lore you try to genorate, remember that you have no idea the Lightning Union exist. As such, try to keep any gifts subtle and small.
Anyway, here goes:
Story
The Scavangers were a great society of traders. Their name was known throughout the forums galaxy. They had fort space eyes from other dimensions. They had supplied the greatest factions with their endless supply of resources. Lead by Chain, and heads of sections: Rust, Tim, Jack, In charge of Development, Communications and Engineering, respectively.
It was like any day for the Scavangers, trading, mining, turning down the insane requests of Greenfire. But then, Tim picked up a rouge communication from one who call's himself "Apollo" @moddedwarfare . Apollo stated that a ruler, calling himself "Cosmolord" is advancing on the Scavangers, comming to take over their land. Most of the Scavangers didn't believe him, until they saw the immages of the decemated ships of a Scavanger fleet. Not only that, but a few survivors were now infected by Cosmolord. Cosmolord isn't just an insane ruler, he can also infect ships.
Cosmolord made slow advancements. Many factions offered small support for the Scavangers. Chain ordered attacks against Cosmolord, trying to slow him down, but ultimately it just makes him more powerful. Eventually, chain realised all he could do was wait for the end... but maybe there was a small hope for the Scavangers?
It was the last day before the demise of the Scavangers. All freighters were called in, to defend the mothership. Cosmolord sent his army to attack the Scavangers, to finish them off. The battle lasted hours. Cosmolord advanced towards the mothership, meter by meter, and at 9:45 UT, the mothership's hull was breached. Many Scavangers were lost as Cosmolord mercilessly ended the innocent lives of so many simply to gain a small amount of territory.
R.I.P CHAIN: died controlling troops in the last battle
R.I.P TIM: died fighting aboard a "Pew Pew", his favourite craft
R.I.P RUST: Captured and ransomed by Greenfire @ . His location is unknown, presumed dead
R.I.P JACK: Died manning a missile launcher.
However, Chain, knowing his end would come, launched escape pods carrying the 4 most elite Scavangers at his disposal. The team piloted the escape pod to outlaw territory, and from there, they have started a secret society, The Lightning Union. They may never be found there, but they don't plan to stay hidden forever. Someday, the Scavanger's name will be heard again. Of course, they now don't have as much funding...

Ships
Lighting MK 1
This is first ship made by the Lightning Union. It uses the basic structure of a Model - L, but has been absolutely overhauled. Additions such as more thrusters are rather subtle, but the main difference is the addition of shields and other defense systems, a much needed feature for any ship. The Lightning MK 1 is commonly used to attract new members to join the Lightning Union.

Lightning MK 2
During a meeting, a bored engineer was allowed to take a Lightning MK 1 home for him to tinker with. He soon began to add part's to the ship, and the next day the Lightning MK 2 was born. The main difference between the MK 1 is the addition of Electro-Bolts, to make the ship effective against other ships with shields.

Thunderstorm
This ship was found mysteriously orbiting a gas giant. It appears defunct, and it's lack of FTL drives makes it largely worthless for now. In the future, the Lightning Union will send a few engineers to repair and retrofit some FTL drives to it.

Scrap Pile
This ship was found in a scrap heap, ready to be recycled. Given the funding, it could be refurbished and used as a cargo freighter or for other transport purposes.

R & D
To develop a ship, the Lightning Union need to pay about 3x the cost of the ship they want to develop. The possible ships that could be developed are:
- The Lightning Kiter (800,000 Credits)
- Beetle MK 5 (1,200,000 Credits)
- The Scrapper MK 1 (500,000 Credits)
- Lightning Union Base (1,000,000 Credits)
Also, some ships that have been salvaged by the Lightning Union may need repairs, or parts retro-fitted to suit certain requirements. To have a ship retrofitted, the Lightning Union need to pay the cost of the parts required. Excess parts will be sold.
- Strange Part (Repair) (150,000 Credits)
Of course, ship blueprints may rarely be found or generated accidentally...
More information about the Lightning Union will come soon...
