This is actually the 2nd war (well 3rd but "the great war" kinda just died at some point) the Cult is involved in, as this one, the other one had been started by the other faction, the K.o.L. which was nearly completely destroyed in consequence of the war, aswell we have resolved the events around the unknown Portal, the Warlord of the CUlt doesn´t actually originate from the Cult itself, where or what he originates from is oficially unknown to this date.
