During days of old, A long forgotten faction conquered and expanded its borders like the plague and had a iron grip on the galaxy. It's navy has be thinned out and exhausted due to constant expansion. yet no one dared to challenged their intense might. They came across a planet on the edge of their border. It was filled to the brim with resources like no one has even seen and they called it 'Volcuros'. With greedy eyes different sub factions demanded their share of this gem and thus lead to violent out-lashes towards each other for territory. The unnamed super faction was not amused by these childish behavior and gave the sub factions a choice, to cooperate or get kicked off the planet. While they still have bitter hatred towards each other they were forced to 'assist' each other.
Yet no one was prepared for 'them'. In the coldness of space, holes of reality torn open and spew froth entities, these hostile predators preyed on the cattle of the faction, breaking them down one by one. the once grand empire has been cut down and forgotten.
The sub factions were relatively safe due to the extreme distance away from the slaughter and once they found out the chains been broken the planet when into a civil war. each wishing to claim the planet as they own and yet one rose from the dust, Ferrum Legio.
Homeworld
Volcuros is a 3x the size of Earth and is inhabitable due to its volcanic activities and the industry on it, it is extremely rich in resources. Its has 5 moons 4 of which are just asteroids caught under Volcuros's gravity while the other moon is habitable and provides the right conditions to have a breathable atmosphere. because of this the moon is called Safe Haven
Ferrum Legio has turned the planet into a factory which allows them produce whatever they wished.
Behavior
Ferrum Legio have a sense of paranoia towards major factions. Not because they are powerful, but because they could collapse at any moment and thus they will most likely refuse to accept alliances from larger factions.
Admirals view an opponent as a challenge of its capabilities. They will be disappointed if the foe doesn't live up to his/her exceptions but if a admiral survives a battle with a equal or better foe he will show a 'frienemy' behavior towards that foe. as he will believe that that foe is his personal challenge.
They have deep respect towards both ally and foe. This pride will make them refuse to attack unarmed ships and will simply let them go.

Ships
Before we talk about the ships of Ferrum Legio we must talk about their method construction of newer ships.
The ship constructors and engineers are free to construct and build blueprints with the permission of the higher ups. But veteran crew of a ship may request a retrofit of their ship to suit the crew's need this may be simple as better water or a device for cooling food products, however those that truly outshine from the rest can request for new weaponry or more powerful shielding or even better engines. those modified ships have a reddish brown painting on them.
If this modified ship performs well then the engineers will create blueprints to be able to produce more of those ships. So due to this it is extremely common to see ships of similar size and shape.

Judgement are the work horses of the Ferrum Legio. They are able to take a beating and deal some back and thanks to its shields its able to soak up more damage.
Harbinger Ion Frigates

Harbingers are what happens when a engineer had a bright idea of sticking some alien technology on a Judgement. Due to the extreme energy requirements. It will need more reactors to power the ship, this is a main weakness of the ship as internal penetration may result in a dangerous explosion.
Warhammer Siege Frigates

Warhammers are highly advanced Judgement that are able to bring the pain on the foe. The main cannons outranges any gunpowder using weaponry and are highly effective against heavily armored ships.
Megaliths Heavy Cruiser

Megaliths are the main brawlers of the Ferrum Legio. they are able to get up and close to a ship and lock it down. While they are able to handle on they own but their are mostly used to combat larger ships.
Dawnbreaker Destroyer

Dawnbreakers are the second biggest military ship in the Ferrum Legio, their are feared for their extreme durability and hard hitting firepower. a duel with a Dawnbreaker will rarely leave the target unscratched.
