during combat, i noticed that the crew seem to prioritize reloading my missiles and tend to ignore recharging my shields for later.
is this a bug or is this behavior working as intended? coz i think the shields should be on a higher priority than reloading missiles. this is especially noticeable if your ship got tons of missile launchers. even though you have more than enough crew, they end up spending too much time reloading the missiles.
imo, the priority should go like this : shields > PDs > thrusters > guns > stockpiles
shields and PD should be higher priority than guns, especially if you got tons of guns, coz if guns have higher priority, then crew just keeps reloading and don't have enough time for recharging shields.
meanwhile, shields mostly need recharged when being badly hit. (so there's plenty of downtime which lets crew do other things while shields are up). same thing goes for PDs, since it only kicks in during missile barrage, so it also has plenty downtime. as for thrusters, they're very necessary for kiters and speed tankers (speed is also considered a viable defensive strategy), besides. the thrusters take a long while before energy gets depleted, so there's also plenty of downtime.
however, when it comes to guns : as long as your ship is in firing range, then guns keep shooting and crew keeps reloading. this hectic activity has little downtime. which means that during intense combat, your crew will tend to neglect doing other things, like recharging your shields.
but, if crew hauling stuff gets automated. this problem becomes a moot point anyway, though currently, shield recharging requires hit-and-run tactics, to give reloading guns some downtime so crew can focus recharging the shields.
