I think that the range for everything need to be scaled up having to be point blank to engage is a little silly. also for accuracy weapons should have increased velocity to they don't take as long to reach their target otherwise they will prob miss 90% of the time cough cannons cough.

The primary reason weapon ranges are so short is so that you don't have to zoom super far out to see both fighting ships at the same time. Zooming out makes combat and the ship simulations themselves hard to see and understand, and less entertaining.
You have to zoom too far out to see both ships well just to fit two large ships on the screen at once. There's no avoiding that.
Half of the weapon ranges are now shorter than the build box. That's a serious problem.
