What we've heard:
-Offensive pods drilling.
-Anti-Raider weaponry.
-Stuff related to setting up the pod.
We've heard about prep, before, and after.
But what about what happens ONCE THEY GET INSIDE?
(Extra: Make the fire extinguishers also have a light pistol with them. For a special touch to make 'em a tad more useful. Or just give basic crewmen pistols.)
Well Cosmoteer has some RTS elements already. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS. 😉
Once the crew get inside, (If not already assigned special orders from the ship building screen in the part) The game will pause for a short moment, and you can assign a crew a special route. You can also make some units split up from the main group. After that, the game continues regularly, except the ship under attack has a yellow ring, instead of green or red, with some accents telling which side is invading it, and which side is defending.
Boarding parties should be pretty expensive. Things like specialized weapons even more so. And training which lets them have more commands before being left alone. (You can also set the number of crewmen you want to be raiders) Some Weapons include:
-Regular blasters, which do their regular job.
-Bombs, where you can place it in a key location, and then assuming it's not stopped, have it explode.
-Flamethrowers. Insert flame hyenard. Good vs crew. Starts fires. Very expensive. Short range, outgunned by regular pistols. And possibly body armour for an even higher cost?
To balance things out, I think it should kind of be reminiscent of Dungeons & Dragons for the combat system, based randomly. This would also apply for detection. The more heavily armed the raiders are the more the crew will notice them. Generally though, The raiders should not be able to be a massive threat. Bomb squads would have to be sneaky, but right when they install the bomb they need to hold out. Not easy. Unless you have a good strategy.
But then remember, It's always a game of chance. As realistically, A crewman could land a lucky shot, or possibly a weapon could malfunction. It would be more accurate as to if the raid was in real life. Do you like the concept? Comment your ideas if you have any! Or your opinions. Either or.
