Faction Description
The TMF is an officially backed government program funded with the intention of maintaining order through Terran occupied systems. TMF fleets are easily recognisable by their drab colours and obsolete methods of camouflage.
M1 Friar
Role: Light Scout
Mass: 61.3 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 77,300
The M1 is one of the earliest models of FTL capable star-ships still somewhat viable in modern day space combat.
M2 Scythe
Role: Experimental, Interceptor
Mass: 56.3 Tonnes
Crew: 8 Souls
Value: 78,000
A product of TMF experimental research in laser technology, the M2 is somewhat of a novelty, and proves to be relatively inneffective within its class.
M3 Jackal
Role: Scout, Interceptor
Mass: 83.3 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 75,200
Brutally effective and almost future-proof in design, the M3 is a mainstay across all fleets, filling the role of escort units to cover the blind spots in larger craft.
M4 Sabre
Role: Scout, Interceptor
Mass: 81.3-83.3 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 76,500-78,100
The M4 Sabre was the most fielded light interceptor craft for the longest time, and is more than a common sight at shipyards and in mercenary fleets alike. M4's came in multiple configurations, such as the K2, which swapped out conventional laser weapons for electric weaponry that could disrupt enemy power.
M5-A Pike
Role: Light Interceptor, Small Fleet Vessel
Mass: 65.3 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 73,450
While shockingly mass-produced, the M5-A was infamous for its less than satisfactory performance in combat, and due to such a track record, the Pike is most regularly found in boneyards as scrap.
M6 Interceptor
Role: Experimental, Interceptor
Mass: 100.3 Tonnes
Crew: 10 Souls
Value: 93,000
A scientific and architectural advancement from the early M2 concept, the M6 pushed the boundaries of concentrated laser technology. While its weapon systems were a success, the vessel was found to be somewhat lacking and vulnerable.
M7 Raptor
Role: Bomber
Mass: 132.3 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 148,900
Emplying convetional hit-and-run tactics in space combat proves to have mixed results, combined with the expenses, the M7 bomber proves to be ineffective.
M8 Bastion
Role: Shield/Tank
Mass: 51.3 Tonnes
Crew: 6 Souls
Value: 58,350
With many fleets facing large damages, and thus large repair bills, the TMF turned to creating an M8, a small inexpensive craft constructed with the intention of survival. At the center of its design, the M8 relies on maintaining its shield generator.
M9-C Rapier
Role: Heavy Bomber
Mass: 186.0 Tonnes
Crew: 14 Souls
Value: 166,050
Following mixed success regarding the M7 Raptor, the M9 aimed to raise the bar for stellar bombers. Sadly, the M9-C was a failiure in the field, and while the volume of firepower didn't go unnoticed, the damages sustained during the M9's duty were too high to upkeep.
M10 Frigate
Role: Frigate, Broadside
Mass: 466.5 Tonnes
Crew: 132 Souls
Value: 483,400
As battle amongst the stars increased in severity, so did the costs of war. As a reaction to a rising surge in enemy fleets, the TMF employed larger vessels to bolster their defences. The M10 was the first TMF ship to fully employ broadside tactics as a feature of its construction, and displayed effective aptitude on the field.
M11-K Astra
Role: Interceptor
Mass: 108.6 Tonnes
Crew: 12 Souls
Value: 80,000
With the emergent success of the M10, the TMF looked for the same success in their lighter craft. Perhaps a offspring of some of their earlier models, the M11 Astra came with several available configurations, such as the M11-R and M11-S, both featuring improved weaponry.
M39 Bulkhead
Role: Ram
Mass: 332.0 Tonnes
Crew: 30 Souls
Value: 189,800
Most likely an experiment at its time of conception, the M39 trades the electronic shielding of most main-line vessels for a huge armoured carapace that covers the entire front end. Pairing it's large momentum and shovel-like shape, the M39 physically engages the target craft, while launching seeking missiles around its defences.
M77-D Broadside
Role: Planetary Bombardment
Mass: 300.0 Tonnes
Crew: 48 Souls
Value: 255,300
While not regularly seen in vessel-on-vessel combat due to its lack of defences, the M77-D is a terrifying sight to see beyond the clouds before a hail of IPBMs blacken the surface of whatever dull rock you call home.
That's all for now folks! I apologise for the lack of any extremely large vessels; I haven't come that far yet/I dislike cripplingly large ships. Any criticism regarding the construction of the ships is more than welcome; I have so far seen both success and failure in my designs, and hope to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of my creations yet to come!
