I have some ideas with something like booster aura emiters.
For instance Static Shield Device produses round aura that lower damage to all parts contain in. Coverage can viewed like FTL green to red gradient. In green close range gain -50% damage and bonus become -0% in end of range (red zone). Two identical devices not sum values. Green zone is maximum efeciency. Red is out of range.
Same with second booster is Weapon Empower Device. Difference only in bonus type. Here is +20% damage bonus max in green zone.
Weapon Aiming Device is +20% max range.
Engine Boost Device is +20% thruster force.
Now I dont have ideas how it can be implemented, but maybe you know something here ;-)
