You may have noticed that, if you click the Mod Talk link on the left, you can see sub-sections dedicated to some of the most popular mods. These sub-sections exist because those mods have grown too large to be confined to a single topic inside of Mods.

If you are the developer of a popular mod and you want a dedicated section added for your mod, please make a post in this topic and provide a link to your mod's main topic. In order to be considered, your mod must have at least 300 non-spam posts in its main thread. (That is, you can't just spam posts in your own thread to reach the 300 number.) I will then look at your mod and its thread and make a decision as to whether it should have its own sub-section of Mod Talk.

Mod creators with their own sub-sections of Mod Talk are welcome and encouraged to create additional topics for their mod in their sub-section (such as a troubleshooting topic, or a topic for a new update). But you should not delete your mod's main topic in the Mods section, because that is where most people will go to find your mod. (Consider linking from your main topic to any extra topics you create.)

Walt stickied the discussion.

Why don't downloads count? Comments are risky because mods that are taking lots of suggestions get more comments.

      ClassicJam Why don't downloads count?

      1. No standardized way of counting number of downloads. (Some file hosting services may not show download counts.)
      2. Spam downloads are basically undetectable. At least with comments I can tell whether it's legit discussion or just spam.
      3. The whole purpose of dedicated mod sections is help those mods whose discussions have outgrown a single topic.

      Walt Makes sense.

Walt Spam downloads are basically undetectable.

But yeah, the comments make more sense for the issue we're having.

Not to mention downloads have "seasonal" swings.

Walt is my mod considered a big mod, (it counts as a big mod if its going to be added to the game XD coconuts XD, its ok, My mod is just for a bit of fun... for now)

Well, I guess the time has come.
requests mod talk sub-section for SW Mod

                ClassicJam Done.

I'd request my own section but no one talks about my mod.

                    Bubbet Done.

I figured this is the best place to talk about this: @Walt
Ive made a new thread for my mod, and it follows a nice design using the new mod talk sections, the problem is, because it utilizes that so much the main thread itself will be lost in the midst of those that cannot/do not follow the system. Because the default sort for the forum is latest, meaning has posts in it. With the way things are laid out, to minimize clutter in one thread, the original thread gets no posts at all. I propose you allow locking and pinning of threads that follow such a nice order. Link to my new thread so you can see: Link

By both locking and pinning the thread, it will ensure it will remain below the more important posts, like how to install mod packages, yet still not have it lost below everything else.

Bubbet A fine example of what I'm talking about: Link, Is abh. Made 6 days ago, and already so far down the list of mods.

Bubbet You certainly raise a valid problem, but I'm not sure locking/pinning is a good solution. The problem is that once there are enough of pinned mods, it'll push all the non-pinned mods off the first page.

Walt Oh i suppose, i never thought about that. Could always try a new catagory for those types to be moved to then locked inside.

I also never really envisioned the main threads becoming completely silent. I was assuming there'd still be regular posts in there. Maybe some sort of policy for how often people are allowed to bump their own posts?

Walt Thing is, when there is posts in the main threads that means remaking the main thread many times, and breaking every link to it each time they do so. but that isn't too much of a problem, also self bumping doesn't look the greatest.

Bubbet I feel you on the self-bumping, it's a very un-ideal solution. When starting a new main thread, you could post a link at the top of the old thread to let people know there's a new thread. I realize that's not ideal, but better than nothing?

Walt Is there any reason you're against the new category for the mods? I know I've wanted it since the beginning and its due to this problem, but you've never seemed too fond of the idea.
