My idea is a system where instead of destroying a ship for money, you can hijack it and use it or sell it for a higher price.
This would be a great feature because normally in systems there's only 2-4 ships and if you have a well equipped ship it takes about 5-10 minutes maximum to clear it which gets boring really quickly so having the choice to be able to board enemy ships rather then destroying them would be great. When boarding, you would be able to control groups of your crew to go to other sections of the enemy's ship to kill off the enemy crew so it would be like a separate, small RTS. This also adds a reason to get more crew and gives them a much greater use rather than just using them for loading and firing ship weapons or charging stations. This would also cause a risk to your ship because if all of your crew die then you lose your ship giving the gameplay of boarding another ship more tension.
When docked at an enemy ship, you have the ability to see the layout of both your ship and the enemy ship at the same time.
This would require the crew to be equipped with weapons which can be given in small stations about the size of fire extinguishers. There would be different types of weapons such as laser rifles, laser pistols or even melee weapons like electric swords.
