I prefer the ctrl+click because i hardly ever use micromanaging & i found my self to sometimes select a ship that is already selected and then i selected a part and have to press esc or the arrow icon quite often. Would also work with a select parts clickable menu-icon.
I really like bottom screen menus/icons!
Would love to see more of those icons ("F" focus icons, break formation icon always visible, general hold fire, etc...)
I understand that too many icons might be clutter though - so its a balancing act.
