I believe this is the first true carrier in Cosmoteer. Capable of rebuilding and arming 6 disposable fighters even in bounty mode!
I went for a missile kiter as the mothership. The AI doesn't do well with this ship, so you have to fly it yourself for best results. Send the fighters around the back and keep the mothership out of reach. If you're in bounty mode remember to sell the fighters after they run out of ammo/energy. The fighters take along time to reload at the moment, but this is more a proof of concept. The next version will have side launching fighters that reload much faster.
To detach the fighters double click any piece of substructure to select them all, then select Self Destruct from the hamburger menu as seen below:
Edit 4: The leftmost Control Room will be the dominant one, so make sure to keep it on the mothership to be able to rebuild fighters if you make your own.
Edit: The new patch has nerfed carriers and splitter/breakaway ships as ships that split now keep the direction of the mothership. So ships placed facing left, right, and backwards will not fly properly anymore.
Edit 2: Here is a random ship that fulfills the role of flanker that you can reuse! While probably a lot more cost effective, it's not nearly as cool as carriers!
