Enemy "Boss" Ships That FTL into the sector your in.

I think it would be cool to have scaled random Boss encounters. It could be so that no matter where you are there is a small chance a ship that's slightly harder than your current ship can FTL into the sector your in and actually hunt you down. Could have a nice warning message and sound to go with it. I think it could really add a nice "Oh Shit" sorta moment every once in a while, and you would feel all accomplished when you beat them.

I'd love to do something like this once I get into working on missions and factions and stuff like that. Perhaps something like, if you piss off the wrong pirates, their mothership will start hunting you down and occasionally warp in to surprise-attack you.

That sounds really good, could do that for every faction. A "rogue pirate" type that is completely random would be cool too.. Like an AI version of how the player would be if he was just out to loot any ship that they can. but at a really low chance of occurrence. and only after you have a pretty stout ship.

A survival or defend the base mode would also be cool; where waves of enemies warp in. In between the waves you can repair, upgrade etc.

Well, from experience you won't get far if the waves consist of an equally powerful ship or ships
- Multiple ships would be like doing multiple Kobayashi Maru scenarios. Surviving one wave is hard.

There was a 1-on-1 mode in Star Trek Command but you don't get additional resources. It's the other ultimate test for warship design (and command skill). In this case upgrades will have to be disabled.
