The game is still lagging when I try to build a very big ship (huge ships mod 1000x1000). But I have a 1070, an i7 and 16GB RAM, so the limitation comes from the game. So I wanted to ask if there is a possibility to assign more RAM to the game? So I can play the game with maximum performance.
How can I assign more RAM to the game?
MaxLeon I think the game only uses one core (per ship) so your i7 isn't being utilized to its full potential. I don't think it's RAM limiting you, but CPU power.
Enigmatica That is basically correct. For some tasks (like crew A.I.) it can use one core per ship, but for some other tasks (like physics) it can only use one core. I may try to switch to a different physics engine that allows multiple cores to be used.
Walt, have you considered Unity3D?
TheCadence The game was prototyped in Unity if I remember the changelog correctly. Walt is using a custom engine because it allows for better performance and flexibility.
Yeah, I switched away from Unity specifically because it had major performance issues.
started questioning myself about this, is it the crew AI or the Ship ai that takes most time to make?
