I only played demo on steam and I'm very hyped for its release. These are the ideas from multiple play outs.
Sorry to fantasy this much over this game. I already love it, and to see any one of these features implemented would be awesome. Didn't want to flood forum with different topics so here they are at once. Numbered them so people may comment different ideas.
One of those runs, I ended with a huge resource depot floating freely. Notice I could just drop them there and go back everytime to change my ship design.
So npcs could have interest in some resources and loot it if it appears on their range. Or a ruling faction have garbage trucks to keep the space clean (and charge you). They could also get rid of unused asteroid bits after mining. (maybe it helps keeping save files lighter?).
Not sure if one day resources runs dry, but anyway, It would be fun to have a major event like "big asteroid approaching your system in X minutes". Then it spawns somewhere crossing the system and you have a chance to mine some of it on the go. you rather have a very fast ship and mining laser, or asteroid attachment modules, or you nuke it.
It would be awesome if we have the option to fly closely over a planet. enable button, then you are teleported to a new screen where instead of space, theres blue trees and volcanos and dunes and purple gases - and bases, mining facilities, ground cannons shooting you). Depending on how its build you could deploy cars if you have those same modules to attach your ship on an asteroid. I mean, at this point the possibilities are of a dlc or major update. Imagine having your own base on a planet to go back and chill and store resources.
Watching enemy crew flying endlessly is quite sad. So a prison module would be cool. The crew working on the prison would fly and "loot" prisoners.
Possible events: Small chance for some of them to become a free crew. A small chance for some of them to break free and kill your crew (Not only fire extinguishers but set guards to prevent it). Sell prisoners to their enemy faction. New mission type like "Bring me their capitain... alive!" or extract information to discover hidden enemy bases. Maybe farm info points to unlock, for example, you have 5 prisoners then you select prison, click extract information and you may end with 1, 2 info point with all 5 prisoners alive, or 1, 2 died in the process and they get "already interrogated" marks. If you reach 3 info points then you discover a hidden enemy base, or you can sell this info, or its part of quest chain... well.
Ship Attachment Modules
the last run I tried having two ships. One was a combat ship, and the second was a miner+factory. At one point I wished to merge them, it would be great to have 3x3 modules each ship and line them to attachment, then both ships shares crew, tasks and recalculated speed.
close/mid range combat drones with different damage types, missile defender kamikase drones, mining/looting drones (perhaps your crew can't mine the asteroid event, but drones can?), of course requiring resources to keep full cap. Different modules for each type, or one module holding 5 drones then you select and configure which types its producing and deploying.
And thats pretty much all. Lie, theres more but I'm already feeling bad to have ideas, do nothing and keep talking like a big annoying executive leader. Sorry.
