History
The Malian are a race of sentient bear like humanoids who come from the system called Malaxus I.
During the first age, the Malian became united under the Malian Council or as some call it the Series of Clans after bloody and brutal territory wars, and infighting in the once divided clans.
During the second age, new technology and improvements to Malian society came to be.
During the third age of expansion, they broke through the cloudy skies of Malaxus I and first saw space with the crude ships they posses.
During the fourth and current age, the Malian are content on leaving their solar system after hearing series of whispers and communications coming outside of their solar system.
Territory
The Malian posses one system with only three developed planets surrounding their local star. Smaller moon colonies have been claimed as well but they are mostly used to be picked clean of their resources for the larger colonies.
Advancements in ship technology has allowed them to explore the far reaches of their solar system, finding new resources such as ores and food to bring home.
Technology
The Malian warships are armed with simple but functioning plasma weaponry, with no enemies except themselves, the weapons are often cold except for a few isolated scenarios.
Civilian ships posses either little or no weapons. These unarmed craft are mostly used to transport resources back and forth between worlds.
The Malian possess very crude FTL drives that do not have a large range or proficiency unlike other factions FTL drives. Currently, they are trying to research more efficient ways to produce and operate such drives but with little success.
Culture
The culture of the Malian is that of a tribal close-knit clan culture, where males fight for leadership positions often to the death.
Meat is a huge portion of the Malian diet. The most popular meat to consume is called Malosbeast, with it being hunted in great honor hunting rituals and prepared by the ancient customs.
Government
The governing body of Malian society is the Malian Council also known as the Series of Clans. After bloody conflict, the divided clans began to become united to solve problems their species was facing.
Each clan leader is automatically appointed to the Series once they become leader of their clan. From their, each member of the council has a single vote on what policies or actions to take.
On the clan level, leaders are often the oldest male in the clan. In order for a new leader to be appointed, the offspring of the leader step up once a leader dies. Other methods include brutal trials by combat which often are done till an opponent is killed. (Leaders are called chieftains)
Military
The Malian intrusion fleet is the main fighting force of the Malian. Equipped with a handful of armed ships, this navy is in charge of security and enforcing some policy on behalf of the governing body.
