PLANETS
L'anello
[map is currently a WIP]
L'anello is a mostly warm planet, getting Warmer near the equator and unbearably cold when approaching the poles, more so than our earth. Oxegen is scarce in their atmosphere, being only 2.7% of it. It's an issue for jet-powered aircraft, needing an abundance of Oxegen to function at needed RPMs and thrust requirements. Sometimes, not even letting stationary jets startup.
The major cities on L'anello consist of Port Stanley (their capital), Matlock, Torquay, Blackrod, Hull, Aberdeen, Fiume, Mare, Cypr, Panta, and Faringdon. With major shipbuilding companies being, but not limited to: Matlock Atlas Works, OTO, Isle of Panta Shipbuilding, and Mare Sea Shipbuilding.
History/ Backstory
The Knowledge of naval gunnery, shipbuilding, and carrier operations is at its quintessence. With over 1 Millenia of Naval practices and traditions and superiority; The Marina Imperiale holds basses, drydocks, refitting yards, ammo depots, and coastal fortifications on almost every walk of their coastline and nation. The sight of a Warship pulling into a dock is common. The navy was currently going through its 4th period of great shipbuilding. As missile technology expanded and the tooling for better ships and weapons, a question in parliament arose. Do we now plan to expand off this planet? and into the stars? Or stay here, and watch as our population grows without means of expansion? Protests would soon force the hand of parliament. A new effort to expand off the planet's borders would start, Along with a new branch of the military forces being added to help protect them on their voyage. Much red tape and bureaucracy could have to be overcome to make these changes, however. the high ranking, and very powerful Admirals, would twist every political screw they had to delay these changes as much as possible. Due to the way their government works, it would take a few years for the bill to pass through the Chambers of Parlament, and then it would be voted upon by the Cheif of the Army, Cheif of the Airforce, and The First Sea Lord, and then the Prime Minister; Of course, The First Sea Lord of the navy and Vice and Rear Admirals would object this bill's passing, as it would mean a cut to their budget, and focus to the new branch instead of their own. The bill would not get the 50% vote needed to pass.
This would not change until a deal would be worked out. The Honourable Sir Horace Hood would command the new branch and was a former Rear Admiral of the navy. It was thought that his former ties to the Navy would secure a better position from the Navy's standpoint, along with growing public unrest and protests would finally force the hand of the Navy, and the bill would pass. Due to Sir Horace Hood's former service, the ships would have many lessons of traditional naval combat at sea, and a very well structured command staff would be made. Thus, these people were flung into the stars. Sir Horace Hood was very lucky in his standings, beloved by the Naval Staff, who held a very heavy hand in the government and well as being well-liked by the chambers of parliament and the public, he would go on to modernize the Space Fleet very quickly and relatively free of corruption. Horace Hood would soon become a common name in each household as his popularity and achievements would grow.
