Alright, not many people seem to talk about this, and the ones who did stopped talking about it over a month ago, so I thought I would bring it up.
So, the problem with roof mounted weapons is they are to OP, but looking at krooms design of his roof mounted cannon I think they can be implemented (mod or not) without the the cost being greater than the gains. Making the roof mounted stuff large is a good balance, but I also think that another way to balance them is more (But not excessive) energy consumption, along with limited turning radius with things like reactors, control rooms, radar, and other roof mounted weapons blocking it. Let me know what you guys think.

yea i reckon they cannot be placed together, cos heavy recoil could damage the ship, and also they should be slow turning.

Another thing I'm trying to do is try to stay in the bounds of what's realistic, for example, a roof mounted weapon would be larger and consume more power because it has to have 360 degrees of motion, while a normal side weapon has only a little over 180 degrees of motion at best, or the way the motion of the weapon is restricted by other objects in the ship such as reactors and radar sensors because they are physically larger than other ship parts.

    yea

Look up here or at discord there have been tons of these discussions over time.
I think the only real working balancing solution is restricting the depth at which the turret can be placed from the surface.
Welp, I've suggested numerous related and similar features but so far Walt hasn't said anything.
The large turret vanilla is gonna get self damage when firing and will hit parts that stick out (other turrets)...
