So, you created mod and want to expand user base.
Some prerequisites your mod should follow:
- Uniqueness (mod must offer some unusual options for gameplay, for example, parts, that are from beloved franchise, that not yet having mod)
- Potential for discussion (unconventional balance approach, for example, but dont go too far, noone wants holy wars, another option is interesting mod interactions)
- Coverage (your mod covers 1 niche extremely well or it covers wide enough array of niches)
- Not going into plagiarism (you should add some references, so fans of what you reference can have a little giggle, but no copying assets from other mods, copying other mods)
Now, that what you require is covered, here is what you do:
- Double check prerequisites, probably tweak some values, to get into sweet spot of potential for discussion, bit tweak sprites.
- Create a thread for mod in mod list, if not done yet
- Create a thread in mod talk, if not done yet
- Fuel activity by updating
- Contact some small and active content creators (you can look on youtube, for example), who review mods, if they dont do it, but you know they want to, contact too (for big ones just inclusion of their content on forum not do any change, but for someone small i can mean large, by their standarts, influx of views)
- Add reviews to created threads, in mod list you want to add em to original post
- Keep updating
- If reviews get outdated, consider asking for a follow up review, if original was really well met
- Listen to feedback on your mod, but think for yourself, if idea wont fit your mod, reject it, tho you must be reasonable with it.
- Repeat from step 7, sometimes return to step 1.
If you have any tips and tricks, feel free to add it in discussion.
