In the depths of the R-1 Quadrant of Galaxy September 16 sits a lone star system, far isolated from other system's, it's local group of stars few and far between as the system floats along through the galaxy. The system, Tela, contains a series of planets, not very remarkable, but there is one planet that holds life, one planet that harbours the blue water necessary for life. This planet is known as Telemaria, orbiting Telama, a main sequence star, on the colder end of the habitable zone, it has 6 continents, many of them being covered by vast, cold tundras and icy surfaces. The Telemarians, a species of humanoids native to the world, make up the many nations on the planet, not yet united as their planet is locked in power struggles galore.

The species is in the end of its information age and reaches up to the stars at the beginning of its space age. Numerous discoveries launching them forward. Railguns, mass drivers, artificial gravity, all things helping them advanced. But despite this, they still fight. War and hatred are the only constants in a pre-FTL civilization, and the Telemarians are no better than such stigmas. They are separated into three main power blocs around the world, A Democratic Bloc who reach fully to the stars and wish to unite all under the banner of peace and prosperity. The Communist-Socialist Bloc, wishing to 'free' the peoples of the world from the toils of capitalism before focusing on the stars, aiming to knock the pillars of democracy out from their feet. And finally, a bloc of neutrals who only wish to distance themselves from the wars and hate, working together economically, they assure the diplomatic protection of the others. Some in the bloc are monarchist, others democratic, but the one similarity is their aversion to conflict. For now they stay neutral and try to avoid the ongoing political conflicts...

Things go on as per normal, the two factions vying for political power..

And then one day it all falls through

The first shots of the Telemarian War are fired by the communist bloc on the continent of Wrinel during a tense situation along the border. News is spread around and fighting begins to ensue across the whole globe as the war heats up. Months of fighting as most borders are locked in stalemate, long range bombardment burning military bases as the two factions clash. Panicked and in need of something to break the stalemate, the two factions use radio telescopes and stations to fire off signals into the dark, into the stars, begging for help from whoever may be out there...

RP PREMISE: Choose a side in the telemarian war and help them win, or further your own goals. The rules are simple:

-You can arrive with a SMALL fleet of ships (No larger than 8 or so vessels)
-Vessels cannot be capital vessels, the highest grade of warship you should/could have is something akin to a destroyer, and ships should not be over a kilometer in length.
-no ships over 500m in length can enter the atmosphere without repercussions on the area below the ship, and players should take note of their ship and whether it will be possible to have it in atmosphere to begin with
-Do NOT use WMDs or Superweapons

Brank *The Telemaria see a new star at the sky, blinking up, just to disappear only a fraction of a second later. No one but a few souls observing the night sky see it at first. The excitement in each bloc reaches unknown levels, when radar scans reveal, that in fact this was neither a natural phenomena or just a plane, but alien visitors. The aliens appear to be friendly minded towards them, following that they didn't just start shooting.

The three new arrived objects enter a low orbit, while everyone on the ground is still wondering how they managed to appear out of no where, with an object of the size of 1km escorted by 2 smaller vessels, each 150 meters long.
Even if those vessels seem large, they are outdated and are the only remains of a much bigger fleet. In a previous battle, they only barely escaped, so one of the escort vessels of the carrier has only one working broadside and has no chance of surviving a reentry. The carrier itself seems to have taken light damage, which could be repaired to some degree, but blocks a couple of hangars for use.
Even with the carrier made for space combat, a lot of its fighters can be reequipped to fly in atmosphere. The carrier itself has only defensive armament and can enter the atmosphere, but only barely enough for the planes to not experience the full impact of a reentry.

The arriving fleet stays calmly in orbit, sending a message downwards in a very basic and to some degree wrong form of the planets language. An onboard AI had been able to use the message sent to translate the Telemarian language to some degree. The message asks for an explanation of what is going on, and requests a save landing zone for shuttles for various purposes.*

Along the wide Acratian front, it's a months-long stalemate. The brutal conditions in the Porlan and Yemenian mountains, walls of rock and ice, many miles high. Fighting is no better in the tundra, the ground nigh impenetrable by hand tools. Tanks and IFV's roam these vast open plains. The fierce combat over the tundra has been turning down as casualties mount from the battles. Nothing can protect against one thing, though; the cold. The unforgiving cold, bringing men to their knees and killing those who otherwise would have survived. No progress is being made in the rough terrain. Though the tools of war have progressed, the enemies of men always are present. No tank can go through a mountain range. No assault can cross open terrain. While the mountains and tundra are unforgiving even in the summer, the unflinching and never-ending cold claims all.

Receiving the transmission from this alien fleet, the Acratian Republic sends no reply aside from formalities. It is better to wait and observe. The aliens seem peaceful, helpful even. But, if history has proven one thing, you mustn't ever trust such a force. A couple damaged ships, who only arrived out of desperation, could mean that more fleets arrive in the future.

In one city in the Acratian Republic, the average citizen is unaware of the carnage at the fronts. Any and all news reporting on the situation is heavily monitored. They are aware of the stalemate, but not of the casualties. That could lead to protests, strikes, revolution, and eventually the toppling of the country. That must be prevented at all costs.

On the frontlines, the generals and high command, despite their actions, are reworking their war in the tundra and mountains. They realize their previous doctrines must be discarded and reworked. The modern weapons of war, advanced may they be, are not punching through. The reliance on air power over mechanized forces rears its ugly head when it ran headlong into modern anti-air weapons. The bombers and close-in air support have suffered the worst casualties by far. Combined with the new technologies of the day, traditional weapons must be radically redone. They expect the the stalemate to last for another few months, as they rush the R&D departments to their limits and beyond.

The politics at home are tense at best, as a never-ending deadlock on the parliaments of the Acratian Republic continues ever forward. The plans for the expansion of the armed forces is constantly blocked by the socialist-aligned "Acratian
Democratic People's Party." Combined with the failures at the front, the pressure is on for the leading "Acratian Democratic Party" as they struggle to retain power in the parliament.

The Acratian Republic is walking a thin tightrope, and just one misstep could doom their war effort.

Dokkisse After getting a few messages back, a small asteroid like object leaves the hangar of the big ship, and enters atmosphere right above the Acratian Republic. It falls fast, some citizens mistake it for a shooting star, but once nearly on the ground a parachute opens, and the container lands undamaged next to a bigger city

Hannizio Receiving this container, it is immediately quarantined and seized by the Acratian government. After confirming that the container is safe and not infected, they open the container and discover a frequency, which is then shared to the Acratian government. After opening communications, the Acratians await the alien's first contact. A level of tension is shared among all in the contact office, which is a make-shift construction made out of an intern's desk.

Dokkisse In an already greatly improved language, a robotic sounding voice asks what is going on:
"We received a message from here. We are ready to support who ever is willing to help us, but to do so we need a good image of what is happening and what happened first. Would you be so kind to tell us?"

Hannizio As they receive this message, the Acratians, who happen to be made up of the current ruling party, reply:
"We are the leaders of the Acratian Republic. We are engaged with the forces of CASS, primarily the Socialist Republic of Acratia to our north. We are in a stalemate against them and our parliament, a CASS-friendly "Acratian Democratic People's Party" is threatening our stability and our war effort. We are primarily engaged in the Porlan and Yemenian mountain ranges and the tundras. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated."
After sending this transmission, the Acratians send maps of the places they speak of to the aliens, tense for their reply.

The AI generated voice now answers with nearly no grammatical errors and a spelling that is close to perfect:
"I already see how we could help. Our question now would be what we would get out of it."

Hannizio Soon after this message is sent, the Acratians reply:
"We must discuss this matter with our parliament, we will return to you with an answer as soon as we can."
The channel closes, and those involved with the contact of the aliens are briefed to present their case in parliament. However, the ADPP musn't discover what the true motivations are.

After an incredibly short parliament meeting, taking but only two hours, the Acratians have come up with a deal for the aliens; access to resources of the Acratian Republic for a fee, less than trade prices for these goods. One must only pray that the aliens accept.

The Acratians then begin the transmission again and propose their deal, awaiting with bated breath what the ambassadors will say...

Dokkisse The commandant of the ship is sure that this deal is good, but he also knows that others might offer more. But since he doesn't want to risk losing this deal, he tries to buy time for the other side of the war to contact them. The AI says in a nearly perfect language:
"We would gladly accept this offer. But we first have to send a report to our other forces. it can take a while till we get a reply."
The commander is fully aware that there is no backup or other fleet waiting, so he sends an encrypted signal out, without any useful information

On the brink of United Earth Government territory Outpost Asmov receives the rudimentary from the democratic side asking for assistance. Once the military reports of the signal and its message to the Prime Minister and she informs parliment a small group of ships is deemed ready to be sent to assist the democratic Telemarians.

The UEG group is only a handful of ships that could be readied at such a quick rate. The group is built around the lead ship that is one of the new Ferrus-Class Heavy Destroyers. The remaining ships consist of a few frigates and heavy duty transports.

The ships leave UEG space and head towards the location of the signal. The estimated travel time is one week after Slipspace calculations had been made.

Eight ships arrive in the system, having heard the distress call by the CASS, and warping to assist. There are three carriers, all of the Gaiprion type IV class, one Gaiderol class battleship (350m long, my ships are small, I think this is ok), Two Kripiteria class destroyers, and one Catapillar class landing ship.

Back in TCU Space the message was received, discussions began on what actions should be taken, it was split between ignoring the message and leave them to set their own future, even if that means they destroy themselves in war, or to support one or all sides to find a status quo. After much debate a plan was set in place, to view the situation on the planet and see what way the conflict is flowing, and to try and ensure no WMD were released, and try to remain neutral.

A small fleet of TCU ships enter into the system and locate the planet the message originated from and slowly move towards it, after entering in orbit of the planet the ships begin to scan all satellites.

Reality, a fickle of existence. Space, the largest realm in which reality exists, empty and dark, with the lives of countless beings inhabiting its vast expanses. Stars are born and die with passing eons as years turn to centuries. Vessels of war sail the void, proud warships of iron created for one's defense, or for another destruction. Countless battles inflict upon the universe, and no small world is free of it. Large nations fall into war, while small ones scrap at each other.
As space distorts once more, reality being torn apart from its fickle existence, the tearing as the bow of a vessel slams through it. A small force of vessels entered into this new system. The 598th Mechanized Division with support force.

On Acratian soil, the tense standoff with the aliens continues as they wait for the reply. Growing ever-more impatient, the Acratian Parliament debates cutting off connection with the Aliens or offering a sweeter deal. The offer of the resources seems to be becoming stale, the Aliens making no contact since their stalling days ago.
The President of the Acratian Republic continues to be a puppet to the parliament and feeding lies to the citizens about the war and situation involving the alien forces.
On the front-lines, the stalemate continues.
