[Event] "Mayday, Mayday. This is the INCC...." Capital Ship Distress Signal

The transmission was endless. Ever since the abnormally far apart rural systems got upgraded sensors they've heard this transmission. Due to debris fields there has been too much radar noise to track the transmission's location, but it was found that coordinates were imbedded within the signal.

It was a very old transmission using incredibly outdated radio FTL signatures, that of Aether batteries. The signal was very worn, and only after hundreds of cycles was there enough data to piece the words together through the awful static, cuts, and noise. It was the following:

Mayday, Mayday. This is INCC R4Z3 C-D 404 International Relations Nightmare, requesting immediate evac. Survivors onboard. Prioritization code "Capitol Sub Founder-Arcutad".....Mayday, mayday-

Sending a ship was the only easy option, and it would come across this sight:

Surrounded by many can-shaped vessels though torn to shreds. Besides the significant cosmetic damage, the massive central reactor explosion was seemingly enough for whatever attacker to judge the kilometer-long ship out of service. Probably running on fumes and empty batteries.

Here is vice Admiral Sarum from the second Fleet of the Democratic Republic of Davus. We heard the radio message. Please identify yourself. Do you need Help?

The vice admiral orders combat readiness, but no aggressive action. There is tension on the bridge, as no escalation is desired. The ships should stick to the formation. Helping those who need is the most important thing.

This small squadron has arrived in the system, consisting of a frigate, two transporters and 6 fighters.

A fleet out of 2 frigates, one 120 and the other 100 meters long, and 3 destroyers, 50m each, arrive. Everyone on board is shocked by the destroyed ship. The commander of the fleet, stationed on the longer frigate, which also has a hangar module, already thinks they are to late, and lets everyone go on high alert. He knows, that whatever did this, could not be beaten by them in conventional means. The longer frigate has a name on its upper side, stating "Gatekeeper". The HDF Gatekeeper tries to reach the ship with a message:
"Is anyone still alive? What happened here?"

The message was seemingly automated, as if set to trigger on any received signal. The ship had sparse shielding, looking like flat plates instead of projectors. Definitely not recent,

1889804 40-Hour periods since distress signal activated. Power: Critical. Life Support: Critical - Power routed to Emergency Stasis - One pod active. Defenses: Active - Deactivation unsuccessful.

A hangar creaked open on the ship, most of the remaining power readings on the ship going dark from the re-routing to that area. No outer turrets or otherwise had any power. Small signatures within the ship suddenly activate, moving towards the opened hangar. Definitely robots.

5 Hours, 43 Minutes, 12 Seconds power remaining.

Mojowuq9 The commander doesn't know if the robots are friendly minded.

"We don't know who they are or even what. Maybe they caused this. We have one life signal, and we will try to get it. One shuttle will go, the destroyers will provide cover while the frigates stay back and give fire support"

One shuttle leaves the hangar. It is small and with its 10 meters length it appears tiny in comparison to the destroyers surrounding it now. The frigates stay a bit back.

"They dont have much more power left. In comparison to other aliens or humans we met, they seem to be technological less developed, but in difference to us, they still have the upper hand. Our ships only rely on heavy armor, without shields, so avoid any kind of direct contact.
We should send a strike force on board. After we secure a parameter, some engineers could be able to make a simple generator out of our one nuclear warhead"

All weapons of the ships aim their weapons. The frigates load their railguns, but turn them of, to not risk any further damage on the ship.

"Our mission is to secure the one thing alive, not to win a battle. The shuttle doesn't has a hyperdrive, so the survival of the Gatekeeper is our number one priority, followed by the survival of the shuttle."

The formation directly flies towards the hangar, the only position the commander is able to see that can be used to enter safe

Boarding was a bit perilous. The robots have not fully gathered but the few there engage with small arms. Bolt-action plasma rifles, even a pistol. They're about seven 7 foot droids. Of course, these are likely the easier ones to kill. The plasma weapons are clearly degenerated, jamming with obviously weakened shots. A soldier is nicked and makes it fine.

If possible to do so, scans reveal they're made of a composite alloy. About the strength of steel but much lighter (Most likely an aluminium alloy, with a coating of some non-Newtonian metal. Plasma, lasers, etc. are going to be more effective.

There's only a few, and plenty of cover in the hangar.

There were three doors out. Airlocks it would seem, though fully open. One set of doors was larger, though it was facing the ship's blown-apart middle. A maintenance access vent was visible, though without a map it would be a bad idea to use it.

Mojowuq9 The troops now they wont go far if the fight continues like this. The out dated weapons of the ships and crew have no lasers or plasma projectiles. And further use of heavy explosive ammo could be fatal. The commander has a plan. He orders the few troops, all in special combat space suits, that are left to enter the closest door and stay behind them. This maneuver put them apart from each other, but once everyone was hiding, a destroyer approached the hangar, ready to decimate everything inside with its point defense system. The destroyer is nearly into firing position.

Firing into the ship with heavy weapons at the robots works. More come out, armed with heavy-looking LMGs. One turns to the destroyer, and fires. The robot slides back two feet as a flash erupts from the gun, slamming into the Destroyer's bridge window. Hopefully the glass is thick, and if it is, it gains a black mark, and a decent crack going down it.

Another comes out from another door with the same weapon, but right after, the bot is thrown to the floor by another of these bolts. A...mushroom dude in medieval-looking jet black armour runs out, discarding the weapon and pulling another off his back. Despite looking the same, the only difference being a shorter barrel and scope, he fires out a stream of plasma that pelt the first bot, forcing it to retreat. He waves his arms, gesturing at the far doors, before shooting them.

Mojowuq9 *What the robots have mistaken for a bridge was actually just a scouting platform, but since it has nearly all important sensors on it, the destroyer still retreats and lefts room for the second one. This one learned from the mistake of the other and only shows its lower hull, which has fewer PD, but more armor and nearly no weak spots

The commander realises what has to be done, and sends out a better equipped team down, while the destroyers switch.
This special operations team out of 10 members quickly leaves the shuttle, before on of the robots hits it, killing the pilot. They quickly move and take the shuttle as cover. They know they have to wait until the second destroyer is in place before they can continue.

Once it is in place and grants fire support again, the time for the troops has come to start running towards the door the mushroom dude pointed at. They reach them, but lose 2 man in this suicide run. Another 2 are badly injured, but the 8 survivors are able to reach and enter the door*

They receive a short-wave signal from a walkie-talkie the mushroom pulls up. "No! I meant for you to bombard the door, that's why I shot at it!!" The men are pelted by bots, the mushroom firing down the hall to keep any from dying. "Hurry!!

The mushroom takes a couple shots, but the armour he's wearing seems to have shielding, eating a couple shots before a small 'plate' of the shield breaks and he moves for cover.

Mojowuq9 The confused soldiers storm out, running for their lives. They are nearly next to the shuttle, when a big explosion brings them to the ground. One of the robots guns hit the shuttle near the engine, and the heat and damage done caused the fuel to explode. Six of them get up again, for the others its too late for any help. The ones left get up and start running, just at the end of the hangar they jump right into space. Their armor is made to resist cold temperatures and radiation while keeping them under pressure, but it doesn't has much oxygen. The destroyer leaves its place, allowing the Gatekeeper to turn in and open its small hangar. and lets the remaining special forces go in.
After this risky maneuver, the Gatekeeper turns on the spot and shows its mighty broadside. A single high caliber gun, even for a ship of this size, starts to point on the door. The gun fires. A big muzzle flash gets into the hanger, blasting away some of the robots and burning them. Than, as the bullet, which itself is multiple dozens of centimeters big, hits its target, an explosion shakes the whole hangar a bit.
Soldiers and Robots can stay on their feet, but this shock bothers the human fighters, and panic and their hope to win this battle goes down.

Admiral_Curtis The smaller frigate immediately turns around, aiming its railguns at the new arrivers and sends a message back:
"Who are you? Did you do this?"
two of the destroyers go out to the side to hit the flanks of the eventual enemy if it comes to fighting.
The last cruise stays back to protect the Gatekeeper

The mushroom is thrown, but gets up, 'holstering' his gun and finding a functional shuttle. "I'll be a bit longer. Don't come back on. Thank you for reviving me, I'll make your men worth it, I hope." A couple minutes pass, before he drags a long, heavy cable to his shuttle, plugging it in. "Alright, I just sent a override to all robots to stand down in all cases. The ship's droid control station was wrecked, and only a crewmate can trigger backup systems. It'll be safe. Treat yourself to the armoury." A ship blueprint is sent. The armoury is close-by.

"Good to know there are still people out there searching for peace. Medical help would be of great help, we have many wounded, and with only one shuttle left, no means to transport them back to our ships in time."

Are there any life forms here that need help? We're not here to rescue the ship. If no one replies within 15 minutes of standard time, soldiers will board the ship and search for survivors.

"An unknown laser weapon, Creator in origin sliced this ship in half, detonating the central and only reactor. Power went to batteries, but that was the end of the fight, our fleet was torn apart. The ship's crew went into cryo, but sacrificed themselves so I could survive until retrieval."

We send our transport ships. Each of these ships has a small medical team and 10 soldiers to secure it. We will transport your wounded to your ships. Should your supply be overloaded, our frigate could help out and take the wounded on board.

The two transporters break away from the formation and fly, accompanied by two Figthers, to the hangar. The soldiers are nervous as it is an unusual situation for many. The sergeant of the ground forces says to his soldiers: "We are here to save lives. Do not forget this. You have all had a good training. Therefore Team Alpha secures the deck. Team Beta supports the doctors and helps carry the wounded."

The transport ships come to the hangar. The Alpha Team takes a defensive position. The beta team asks: "Who needs help the most? The seriously injured first."

Admiral_Curtis "Thanks for your help. We wouldn't mind if you could carry some wounded. As you might see, our small fleet is equipped for space combat, not ground landing missions."

No further responses, but power spikes, probably bots, are detected moving to the hangar. Must be those defenses that weren't automatically deactivated. If they want to board they need to do it now.
