Akhstafa looked directly at her behind his podium. He took a breath before countering with:
”Your military expansion is nothing but an exaggerated reactionary action conjured by the emotions that was caused by this tragic attack. There is no indication that such an attack is to happen in the next 1000 years. The people pay the price. The class differences are increasing. You will only worsen it by sinking our capital into Thrawn’s Empire.”
The other party leaders in the room were not participating much in the debate. They were mostly observing the debate between the main candidates. Kayelin responded.
”A great economist such as yourself should be aware of the economic expansion that my military projects bring in benefit to infrastructure, travel and trade through the military ties I created. Our economy AI predict that it will benefit our GDP.”
”This is far from the entire truth. Your new generation of warships will be used to wage war. The cost of active service forces and logistics cancel your infrastructural benefits.”
The party leader for the Social Democrats added: ”The new generation warships are a tax payer liability. We agree that they are an unnecessary and costly step in a field which does not need improving.”
The moderator stepped in. ”Let’s move on from military spending. Kayelin you promised to increase state ’donations’ to unemployed.” he said. Kayelin nodded. **”What are your views on this? Akhstafa you may begin.”*£
”The tragic events of the dooms strike solved the job crisis.” Akhstafa said. ”The decision would take away the motivation to work for many citizens, allowing them to live desirable lives without contributing to society. We would see a reintroduction to a problem that required the death of millions to end. The Inner Prosperity Party recognizes that taxpayer money should be spent on colonial, infrastructural and industrial development.”
Kayelin took a deep breath and responded. ”The improved welfare system will allow for better business opportunities allowing for our economy to see unseen growth. The decision will only result in better living conditions in average for each citizen. Make no mistake, corporations are a manifestation of greed. Yet we will utilize them to make not only this nation more prosperous, but the entire galaxy shall have justice!”
