Fleet Doctrine
Since the end of the civil war, Revian fleet doctrine has had to adapt to the decreased workforce and the recovering economy, currently Revian fleet doctrine is focused on using smaller vessels. Heavy cruisers are the main flagships of the navy with every task force having a total of 1 heavy cruiser. In addition task forces also contain 1 light carrier, 2 cruisers, 3 light cruisers, 3 destroyers, 4 light destroyers, 6 frigates (mainly consisting of the Brave and Defiant classes but Valiant Class Frigates are sometimes seen), and 10 corvettes of the Tsunami class. altogether, 4 task forces come together to make a fleet, and 2 fleets make an armada. This system allows for the fleets to break up and conjoin quickly as the battlefield shifts and changes.
Fleet & Command Structure
The command structure goes as such: There are 2 Grand Admirals, who oversee the 2 Armadas of the Federation. Those Armadas are split into two fleets each, equalling 4 fleets and 4 Admirals to command them, and those 4 fleets are further broken down into 12 Task Forces, which each have their respective Captains. Each ship in the fleet also has a Commanding Officer.
Weaponry
Currently, the Revan Federation relies on a mix of long-range missiles and mass drivers combined with mid-ranged energy weaponry.
Phaser Cannons
The most common turreted weapon of the Federation, the Phaser Cannon can come in many different sizes and power outputs, but it is always in the form of a beam of super-heated UV-Rays that almost instantly hits the target. The intense heat can vaporize most armors and burn away at shielding. But, these beams have a limited range before they become more or less harmless due to heat dissipation.
Mass-Drivers
Some may consider it crude, but without a doubt, it's effective. Relatively simple to build and maintain, but devastatingly powerful when impacting bare armor. Possibly the weapon with the longest range, it can easily hit enemy targets kilometers away.
Marauder Rockets
The Marauder Rockets, while the individual rocket is ineffective to any service warship, each silo can hold many. Giving the armament the ability to overload enemy countermeasures, work as anti-fighter munitions, and even be used in orbital bombardments and in a limited capacity.
Thunderbolt Missiles
These are massive missiles made for dealing quick damage, they are fast and surprisingly durable. And the warhead on them is akin to the MOABs used by the U.S.A
Ships
Strikecraft
The main fighter of the Federation, the Cassowary is equipped with two light phaser cannons. Due to the population hit the Federation took, the fighter can be controlled by an AI or an organic pilot. These fighters are a good balance of speed, maneuverability, and firepower.
The Falcon Strike Fighter specializes in air superiority, with its two dual phaser cannons and its 6 guided marauder missiles the Falcon is sufficient in anti-fighter and escort duties.
A highly specialized bomber, the Albatross Strike Bomber takes a unique take on the typical bomber configuration. With little in the ways of armor, the Albatross solely focuses on speed and firepower. Due to this, the bomber is prone to high destruction rates unless the enemy strike craft are sufficiently cleared from the battlefield. And thus, the Albatross is only controllable by an AI. The Albatross is equipped with 2 anti-ship, shield ignoring torpedoes, along with a dual phaser cannon on the tail and 3 marauder missiles.
Corvettes
Cheap and easy to produce, the Hurricane Class strides on the edge of what could be considered a military vessel. Its weak armament of just 2 dual phaser cannons and one medium phaser cannon restricts this ship to policing and patrol duty, and very rarely do these ships see actual combat.
A no-holds-barred purpose-built corvette, the Tsunami Class Corvette is made to provide screening and nothing else. With its turreted Marauder Missile Launcher and its 5 dual phaser cannons, the Tsunami can easily mop up fighters and missiles alike, providing adequate protection for the larger ships of the navy.
Frigates
The Brave Class Frigate was a design hastily drawn up during the civil war. As such it is very lightly armored and mainly relies on speed and firepower to deal with any hostiles. Even with this ship's flaws, it has found a place in the Federation as a heavier patrol and policing craft. Though there are still many in the fleets of the Federation.
One of the drawn-up designs of a massive project to slowly replace all the pre and mid-civil war designs, The Defiant Class Torpedo Frigate is the pinnacle of modern Revian ship making. Armed with a Heavy Dual Phaser Cannon, 6 secondary Medium Dual Phaser Cannons, and as the name suggests, 2 heavy torpedoes stored in bays on either side of the ship.
An old pre-war vessel, the Valiant Class is from a time when ships were bigger, slower, and more heavily armed. Due to the decrease in resources, the Federation has deemed these vessels inefficient to repair. And as such when they take sufficient damage they are scrapped. Despite the repair costs, the Federation is still keeping them in service because of their unusually high damage output. With its 5 Heavy Dual Phaser Cannons combined with its secondary armament of 4 Medium Phaser Cannons, and 2 Large Phaser Cannons this ship is able to put out damage close to that of a destroyer or cruiser.
Destroyers
The Gindix Class Light Destroyer is the newest vessel in the Revian Federation Fleet. It's fast, armored, and armed. For its size and tonnage, the Gindix can deal a surprising amount of punishment, mainly thanks to an experimental Fusion Cannon on the bow of the vessel.
Originally a shelved Expansionist design from the late war period, the Pollux Class Heavy Destroyer was later brought back into the light as of recently. Its systems were updated and its armament was reworked. Now it's a mighty vessel sporting 6 Large Dual Phaser Cannons and a ventral dual-mass driver. And its fast and maneuverable to boot, but this comes at the expense of armor.
Cruisers
The Hermes Class is the speediest vessel of its tonnage in the Federation fleet, this is combined with an assortment of armaments to produce a dangerous vessel when in a flanking maneuver. Overall the Hermes sports 8 Marauder Rocket Pods, 6 Large Phaser Cannons, and 4 experimental EMP weapons. With this arsenal, the Hermes can support bigger, more resilient vessels in combat. While also picking off the enemy's weaker vessels.
The Nemesis Class Cruiser is armed to the teeth with phasers and missiles. Sporting a total of 3 Heavy Phaser Cannons, 6 Medium Phaser Cannons, and 6 Marauder Rocket Pods this vessel can take a beating with it's thick armor and then dish out one.
Being the biggest vessel produced by the Federation, the Athena Class Heavy Cruiser has one purpose and one purpose only: destroy other capital ships. It is armed with a grand total of 4 Heavy Phaser Cannons, 14 Medium Phaser Cannons, and 2 broadside Super Heavy Phaser Cannons the Athena Class can deal the most damage by far out of the Federation Fleets, and on top of that take a beating.
Carriers
As the Revian Federation slowly recovers from its civil war, the reintroduction of carriers was inevitable. Currently able to store 3 Wildcat Squadrons, 4 Vanguard Squadrons, and 3 Warlock Squadrons the Nebula Class Light Carrier is the only ship class of its kind in the Federation Navy. The carrier is also armed with 10 Light Phaser Cannons, and 12 Marauder Rocket Pods the ship is of little threat to anything bulkier than a light cruiser.
Dreadnoughts
While everyone knows of the old vessel, few have actually seen it, and even fewer know truly why its still around. The Quasar Class Dreadnought is an oddity in the Federation Fleet. Bearing alien weapons from a different time the ancient behemoth has firepower beyond that of any vessel the Revians have ever built in their existence. The public can speculate on why it's still here, but the only "official" answer they've gotten from the higher-ups is that they simply don't have the resources to deconstruct it.
