the super fire extinguisher would have a cable attached to it creating a radius around it in witch it can be used.
but it would also have infinite fuel or whatever you call it. the infinite fuel would come with another cost, it would also need a constant supply of batteries whenever it is in use.

You mean fire-extinguishing water tanks? Well, this would be advantageous for larger ships while prohibitive for small ships, hence, increasing the endurance gap further.
