Backstory
During a pirate raid on Redford Shipping, a Hornet-Class Battlecruiser suffered a major explosion in a turret magazine from bombs. The ship, left behind similar to The Blasted Cruiser , was boarded by pirates trying to take over the ship. While their attempts to fix the ship proved unsuccessful, they were able to make away with data that Redford hoped nobody would find out. The location of the 2 Factory Moons and the way to get there.
Seeking revenge for their fallen comrades, the pirates broadcasted this information across the Galaxy, much to Redford's Horror.
Event and it's Rules
Yep, it's a fight for the Moons and the Anvil. So let's lay out some basic stuff.
You can participate on either side of the conflict.
Defending or Attacking the Moons will reap you some kind of award.
The huge Redford Fleet can participate unless you do some stuff in the main event. While they are not at the Moons or the Anvil, they are traveling to the FTL Gate to go to it. You can disable the main gate on the other side, but you'd have to hurry.
The Moons and any Redford ships currently around the Anvil ARE capturable. This amounts to 15 Battleships (10 in port at the time of transmission), 30 cruisers (24 in port), 57 destroyers (39 in port), and total patrol craft at about 89 (68 in port). Freighters will be scattered about, but they contain precious materials. There are 40 roaming around the Remnants of the Anvil.
The Remnants of the Anvil can be hidden in, at least in terms of the thick gases and debris. However, fair warning as you could easily be destroyed by superheated plasma, Radiation, Debris, etc. The Anvil's area is not to be taken lightly and must be considered traveling through Supernovas in order for your faction's fleet to arrive at the Moons.
(I would pull up the Map but the forum won't let me xd)
Now, we get to the entrances for the attackers (Defenders that are allied to Redford can go through the FTL gate if it hasn't been disabled in time). There are three main points to enter.
- Is in an area called "The Needle". It's a smaller "safe" zone, but it is the farthest away from The Moons. It's the easiest area to hide in before making way to the Moons, but large ships cannot fit (A Redford Example would be the S. Battleships)
- The second-safe zone is significantly larger, is simply called "The Relay Point". You can start to bring the Heavy Guns in this section, but doing so may show your location thanks to the route to the final area.
- Gatherer's Rest is where Redford's Moons reside. It's also the largest area of safe clearance but provides its own issues to attackers. Mainly, warping to this segment may result in landing in the huge swathes of mines that Redford laid ages ago. Moreover, the area being cleared means The Moons can sound alarms as soon as any ships can warp in, sending the Massive Redford Fleets from the main system into high alert and on the way.
The event begins when your faction just receives the transmission. You can make pacts with other factions to try and defend or take over the Moons+Redford Forces. Taking the Moons will prolong the amount of time the Redford Republic can mount prolonged attacks, defend freighters in trade routes, etc. Simply, it'll by you enough time to start creating your own fleet to attack Redford's.
You cannot bring Superweapons to this event. Redford has no superweapons located here, so you don't get to bring any.
You cannot sell the Redford Ships off, parts of Redford Ships, or Plans, even if they are captured. You can sell cargo, things like supplies, fuel, ammunition, etc.
Attackers that attack Redford will be considered enemies, and thus Redford will try to track you down.
Defenders that defend Redford will be rewarded with some materials, ships (not nearly as many as captured ships), and some limited access to the Moons (Only allowed to repair own ships under Redford supervision). Allies of Redford get some more perks, like more access to the moons (They can build ships as long as they provide the credits to occupy that space, as your essentially renting it out), access to the Anvil itself (under supervision), and things like that.
And the same (though now slightly revised) usual rules.
So people don't continuously try to defend Redford, you won't get rewarded for defending Redford if nobody attacks. If nobody attacks, your not really defending, you are just squatting at that point.
