A light mechanical hum as the unit approaches the engine room, a turning of gears and moving within.
Then snap, door drops open as a large turret drops down within a second, the barrel spinning already as the heavy weapon begins firing away.

The ilde turrets sat ominously, then some began to shift and move as they seemed to take target.

MrBalkenKreuz As the scans passed over the object it stopped, it sat there for a few moments before another object began to rise from the hole in the void. This other object resembled a long tube about 3 meters long, its base tapered up to its tip where it appeared to mount a flat large cylinder.
When this new object was fully extended, the sensor operators onboard the UEN noticed a response to their scanning in the form of being scanned themselves, alongside this they noticed a slight increase in the local magnetic fields which seemingly concentrated on their ships, these spikes in the local magnetic field would come in waves that would spike every few seconds.

This strange object was watched continuously. One of the destroyers launches one of its probes on a direct route to get a better look at it.

As the drone approached the object, a larger hole appeared infront of the already appeared object., from this hole a small cylinder was launched with some force straight up, after going up for a few seconds RCS thrusters on the object quickly oriented it at the drone as the rear and front of the launched object popped off revealing its true nature, it was an interceptor missile and in a flash it ignited and sped towards the drone, and soon enough it became obvious to the UEG operators that this was an interceptor missile, destined to destroy the drone.

He looks over at Ivone, a female marine in the squad.
2nd Squad Leader Daron:
"Ivone, Ion Grenades!"
She Tosses a couple of them over to Daron, and he hands a few to the UEG troopers and his own squad, everyone having one.
Ivone:
"After this I'm out of Ion Grenades. Use them wisely."
Daron:
"Understood. There's your EMP."

MrBalkenKreuz The drone attempts to move but is too slow. The missile hits the small drone craft taking it out. Camera feeds linked on the mother destroyers view screen turns to static before switching to the next drones camera as it awaits in its small tubular launch bay.

The destroyer also readies one of its missiles to take out the strange object as it had taken out one of its drones.

The Operators onboard the destroyer noticed that the magnetic pulses from the object stopped and instead, the magnetic field intensified greatly around their ships weapon mounts and critical systems, apparently they were being targeted by some sort of senor from the object, although the craft had until now only showed defensive measures, this sensor appeared to be intended for targeting an offensive weapon.

The ship's AI predicts that a weapons launch is going to happen from reading the readings coming out from the ship's main sensory equipment.Point defences are active captain. Standard 50mm SCAPS (sub-calibre armour-piercing) sabots loaded and armed. the weapons officer says as they wait for targets. Each of the turrets is equipped with a simple AI that allows it to take out targets much faster than a human brain can process. Paired to the main AI, this boosted the overall efficiency allowing nothing to get past.

The troopers move out with their displays showing infrared, x-ray and night-vision optic feeds at the same time. A troopers with an SMG walks in the front followed by a marine carrying a shotgun. Their cybernetic implants increasing their situational awarness, responce time and reaction time aswell as physical strenght, resiliance.

They keep moving ahead

The mixed squad after coming across a main hall that leads to a heavy blastdoor bridge and two turrets, that upon turning the corner began letting loose gunfire down the hall.

ONI

The rest of the team moves forward with Vic. They keep a watchful eye on the disabled turret.

As the minuets dragged on, the expected attack, never came... instead a deathly silence fell over the CIC of the destroyer with the tension in the air almost seeming to burn into the minds of the operators as they waited for something to happen.....

Whoever commanded that ship or whatever it was behind that object, was playing "Chicken" with the Destroyers, and the tough part about playing chicken....... is knowing when to blink.....

MrBalkenKreuz The ships personell go back to focusing on trying to get their lost men and woman back. The main AI communicates with the defence networks continues to wait for any targets. Still vigilant of course.

As soon as the turret deployed the frontal marines deployed their hardlight shields, large enough to protect their bodies while those behind tried to find cover and duck behind it. One of the shielding marines took a sticky grenade with his free hand, lifted it to his mouth and primed it with his teeth. He threw it from behind the shield onto the turret. However, the shields wouldn't hold long under this heavy fire. The shielding marines were backing away as quickly as they could.

The Turret fires into the group as they duck back behind the wall. A Scream is let out as Ivone is torn to shreds.
Vic:
"IVONE!- Damnit, someone take out that turret!"

The marine threw the grenades' in the split second it took the gun to destroy the shields and shred everyman in the hallway that didn't duck to the side or drop down. An explosion happening a few seconds later and the rapid heavy gunfire stopping.

The four frontal marines were ripped apart by gunfire. As the fire stopped the marines looked around the corner with their cameras to make sure the turret was offline.

The remains of the turret were a distorted barrel with a light fire and sparks emoting from it and the large blastdoor behind it.
