R. Republic Breaking News!

One of the Redford Navy's Missile Cruisers has experienced a major explosion, during a scouting mission. The reports state the reason for the explosion was due to a failure in the missile reserves, which lead to a major jam and subsequent detonation. 30 are dead and over 300 are wounded. In the meantime, the cruiser has been left behind, so towing rigs can pull the cruiser back to the scrapyards.

This event has the following (in-lore) rewards:
Plans for the Redford cruiser in this event
Access to Redford Tech (though limited as this isn't a full-fledged Redford Naval Library, this is a cruiser)
Capability to FIX the cruiser, and thus use it in your navies (though unlikely due to the explosion)

There are some rules:

Only one faction can take the ship. No deals to share the schematic, no alliances, No selling the ship off to another faction (The only exception are Scrapyard Factions, and if Scrapyard Factions take ship selling it is fair game), none of that kind of stuff: That includes business factions, so don't you try to make a scrapyard branch MISE.
No nanotech stuff where you can go wherever you want. No scout drones, etc. However, if you have robotic people/species (Think Droids like C-3PO from Star Wars), that's fine.
If you want to capture the ship, and repair it, you cannot sell it to another faction. (The exception for this are Repair Factions, such as The Forge of Babel)

Hyperspace Signature Detected
Two Venator Class Star-Destroyers exit hyperspace near the cruiser, bearing the mark of Ezekiel's Undying Empire. The Ships move in towards the cruiser, the Spinal hangar bay opening up, as a couple of shuttles launch towards the cruiser with repair teams, engineers, and assault troops.

Seeing, the...opportunity for theft and...destruction of the cruiser, The Zendikarian Empire sends a escort fleet (consisting of 2 battleships, 4 heavy cruisers, 6 light cruisers, and 15 destroyers) to escort the cruiser and make diplomatic ties with the Redford Republic.

The ruins of the cruiser are a sight to behold. A large crater in the lower side is splayed out, the shrapnel strewn about the area below the explosion. The debris field contains multiple objects, from chunks of armor to undetonated missiles. It also seems as though the major power generators have been knocked out or damaged, as only dim, red lights can be seen shining through the porthole windows,

Moreover, the Large guns (both main and secondary battery guns) seem to have been loosened from their positions, as the guns seem to be sitting at different heights and angles.

Two destroyers detach from the formation, and provide cover for the star destroyers as they unload, holding at about 4km away, covering the venators rear (facing away not toward)

Tractor beams lock on, not pushing or pulling, but holding the ship together, and keeping it from shattering

The Venators Get in a Position around the cruiser, turbolasers coming online tracking the nearby contacts as if to tell them to back off. As that happens, the shuttles find a place to land on the cruiser, allowing their passengers to move in towards the cruiser's main reactor, hoping to bring it back online and get it out of system...

ZendikaroftheWest The tractor beams make the situation slightly worse. The sudden pull of the tractor beams has yanked a forward turret, making it lean to one side. Moreover, it doesn't help that it seems as though the explosion that rocked the ship has also knocked some of the auto-loading mechanisms out of the left-most secondary guns, sending half-loaded rounds scattering about even more thanks to the tractor beam.

The shuttles are nearing the forward-most landing bay. While the front of the ship is well-intact, the aforementioned turret's shifting has caused a major section of the Forward Hangar to be horribly bent in, most likely due to the sheer weight of the turret jostling around. The eerie red color due to the dim light fills the hangar, as well as the continued wailing of alarms.

The shuttles, due to their task at hand of repairing the reactor, near the rear-most hangar bay. Due to the location of the said hangar, it being underneath one of the major sensor towers, it had a very cramped entranceway. Most likely, this hangar was used for quick supply restock, or in this case, emergency shuttling to allied craft. It seems as though a transport was left behind, as it had been shot clean through by the jagged chunk of armor sticking into the Hangar's Ceiling. It's best to avoid the craft, as it's most likely not worth much if any at all.

The shuttle heads in through the small gap, and after landing head for the turret, meaning to extract the turret ammunition. meanwhile, a cruiser moves in, and after the troops have extracted the ammunition, begin to remove the turret.

Seeing the weapons armed, the 2 battleships track the venators, but do not fire. meanwhile, a additional 2 destroyers head to the detached two, but pointing toward the venators.

Brank The hangar bay is in disarray as they land. The transport that had been snapped in half was still lying there, with coolant spewing out from a high-pressure hose. Moreover, some of the major lines seem to be dangling down, exposed, or outright cut through thanks to the explosion. It seems as though the sirens are still going, as the constant, nigh annoying, wailing of them continues. Small signs on the wall state the following:

Brank The cooling system's room is badly damaged from the looks of it, as the thick fog blanketing the halls near it suggests. However, it seems as though the reactor is a floor down from the coolant systems, as the multitude of pipes heading downward would suggest.

Question. Can you take the ship and give it back to Redford to increase your relationship with them?

ONI I guess you could, but you would be basically getting nothing in return except maybe a few trade deals. All Redford would know is that you hauled back a cruiser they were already going to, and nothing more. Besides, If Redford learned that you got any tech from that cruiser, they'd probably try to take it back.

Also, if you were to take the cruiser, it'd be hard for Redford to find it without literally trying to scour the entire galaxy. Redford would have to try and rule out pirate gangs, enemy factions, neutral factions, etc.

And if you were to enter it into your navy, Redford would have to find a very valid reason to try to pick a fight with you besides "Hey, give that ship back!". Cause think about it, It's Redford's fault for not at least having a patrol craft. So if it got stolen, it's their fault. Besides, the Redford Republic could easily build another to recoup their losses. It's a cruiser that is destined for the scrapyard if it returns anyways.

3 Marines, 1 Power Droid, and 6 of the Engineers begin to work on the Coolant systems in hopes of repairing them and bringing them back online, meanwhile the rest attempt to find a way down into the reactor, hoping to repair any damage and switch it on as soon as the coolant systems are brought online.

The troops would have a hard time removing the turret, as it seems as though it's a Laser/Plasma-Based weaponry. Instead of ammunition, they find large, dangling power cables, with the Barbette holding the turret completely bent into the wall they saw earlier. The turret's main housing inside the barbette seems to be extremely heavy-duty, with multiple sections connected to the ship itself or clamped down by multiple rivets, welds, and cross-beams. However. it does seem the turret can be removed, as a lot of these safety measures have either been cracked or bent out of shape due to the damage the turret sustained from the explosion.
