”Do you know if you are conscious and they wiped your memory afterwards or if you were completely aware, and in that case was it painful?”

"I dont remember much because of how much pain it caused. As far as I know, they gave no anesthesia. I almost didn't survive the augmentation. Many weren't as lucky as me."

"Some of you DIED!?" her voice broke as she said it. This came as a shock to her, despite her claimed experience with supersoldiery. After recollecting herself she spoke again softly, "t-they used procedures that were lethal...?"

Natalie sets her hand on arra's shoulder in an attempt to calm her.
"...Yeah."
The AI Plays a Muted Scene of one of the procedures straight from Natalie's repressed memories, a moving hologram of pain and suffering. Natalie lets out a pained grimace before taking the ai out of her head and with a grumble putting it in her suit's hardcase.
"S-sorry.."

Her hand is rather heavy considering the armour. "But this is against galactic law o-on so many levels. Even the old British Monarch State of Culture and Civilization was more humane than this!"

She shifts around uncomfortably.
"gh. One sec, i'm gonna go do something."
She stands up and begins to walk towards her dropship.

"Oh." Arra waited there on her chair. Staring endlessly through the ground.

After some time, arra hears very light footsteps behind her as natalie walks up, no longer in her armour and instead in a casual outfit with a blue hoodie and jeans. She takes a seat beside arra with a chair she grabbed from the dropship and puts her hand upon arra's shoulder.
"Hey.."

"Oh you changed. I'm sorry you had to go through that. One thing that I have to ask you, do you get any rest. I mean does your AI or PTSD bother you nonstop?"

"Its fine.. I get rest, the AI Tries to help, but sometimes it just goes a bit too far. It helps overall but sometimes.. i jsut have to take it out for a bit..."
Natalie curls her knees up into the chair and sighs.
"so, uh.. do you want me to continue with the story..?"

"alright.. where was i.. Oh yeah. After the augmentations, we spent years and years training, never leaving the training facilities. I.. I've never known a normal life, to be truthful."

KrankysFirebrand48 "i havent heard anything of retirement beyong getting too old to keep going. I dont know how it is for the UEG you know. And a normal life?"
she lets out a pained chuckle
"Even if you learn to cope, these memories.. they stick with you forever..."

"You could arrange a memory wipe. You'd still remember that it happened because you'll remember the times you mentioned it, but you'll forget anything from it and any post trauma. Medical technology is wonderful."

"If i had a memory wipe, i would forget who i am as a person. I spent years wandering around this galaxy alone, only able to think of myself. I dont want to just go back to not knowing anything, even if i have to live with these whispers of the past.."
