Background/History
(Note: a lot of this is ooc information, and is not known in canon)
The F12 series of Qunits had been a large leap forward capabilities wise. However, all of them save for 1 suffered from mental conditions of varying severity, rendering them unpredictable and largely unfit for deployment. The F13s aimed to incorporate the lessons learned from their predecessors, for better or for worse.
While his physical body was still developing, F13Y3 began his conscious life in Darkfleet cyberspace just as his siblings did. The theory was that the moment the body was fit for service, the mind would be equally so. During this developmental stage, Y3 studied the history and aspects of combat and warfare, and developed his own fighting style focused on unrelenting physical force. During his delves into history, he began taking slight interests in culture, psychology and philosophy. "Summernoise" was impressed with this apparent initiative, which later led to his permission to operate without a dedicated supervisor. Upon actually acquiring his body, he spent some time further developing and tuning his fighting skills, sparring with Y1, whom he still has a friendly rivalry with today. He was deployed on numerous minor missions, often as an escort or deterrent, until he was assigned one that shaped his life going forward.
With the acquisition of the anomalous material "Coel" which amplified the user's psychic presence, the VWP had begun taking its first tentative steps into psionic research. Y3 was selected to be the first to test its applications in a field test. The activation of the prototype made history, but placed a heavy strain on his body. He quickly learned to hide the visible symptoms, and continued the mission. of exploring a primitive human world with its own anomalous properties. The planet’s surface opened up and an army of mindless beasts slaughtering all in their path emerged, which he of course did his part in fending off, and after a series of events he found himself in orbit above a shattered world. During his return flight, he spotted the comatose body of the Ambassador, the entity responsible for the ruinous backdrop. Fearing what could happen should misguided individuals acquire the wolfman for study, Y3 elected to recover him, leaving him to the pocket carrier’s medical staff.
The Ambassador eventually came to, and Y3 sensed an opportunity. He requested to be taken under the Ambassador’s tutelage, having little experience or knowledge in psionics himself. The Ambassador, after taking a cursory glance at the apparently damaged souls of the Vaiaelons around him, came to the conclusion that they were manufactured, and voiced it. This understandably caused distress in those present, which was only compounded upon his departure.
After heated debates among the VWP’s governance, both official and non-official, all psychic research was halted until a more in depth explanation could be acquired, the dangers of psionics being all too known. Y3, already being involved with the issue, was instructed to track down the Ambassador and question him further. After several months he finally confronted the wolfman, and question him he did. A deal was struck between the two entities; the Ambassador needed assistance in an upcoming project of his, if Y3 helped he would receive his answers. This pet project would go on to become the now well known Embassy.
Current Status
Y3 now enjoys the position of Security Chief in the Embassy, overseeing almost everything that takes place within the system. His innately digital mind is permanently linked to the systems, regardless of distance. This hypothetically would allow him to massively boost his own processing power using the abundance of such available, though he has yet to abuse the link in such a way. His personal chambers are lined with Coel, amplifying his psychic abilities tenfold while within. Due to his intrinsic link to the systems, he can even tap into the power remotely, though in a much diminished form.
His continued exposure to and usage of psionic energies has had a couple of notable impacts on him. Biologically, Qunits stop aging at 30 by the Vaiaelon calendar, yet his outward appearance looks more akin to early 40s. Mentally it has had a much more profound effect; he began his investigations devoutly loyal and unquestioning of his position, yet as time has gone on, he has begun thinking for himself more and is by now largely unsure of even his own identity.
Implants/Equipment/Inventory
F12 pa17 Internal Reactor
The pa17 is a micro fusion reactor within Y3’s upper torso. The energy output is mostly used to power his other implants, as bioelectricity alone could not hope to deal with their demands. There is an extendable cable underneath the fur on his back that can adapt to fit almost any power transferal interface.
Composite Skeleton
The typical Vaiaelon skeleton was deemed too brittle to deal with the stresses associated with entity combat. Thus accordingly, Y3’s was replaced with biocompatible composite materials. The layout has a high elasticity, though graphene nanomachinery contained within can expand to reduce deformation as necessary.
UT cqc Extendable f7x32
Built into his limbs and torso are sets of retractable blades, often limited in length only by whatever body part contains them. The blades themselves are laced in several layers of graphene, thus sharp down to the atomic level. Their extremely low thickness results in extreme brittleness, and will often shatter upon the slightest transversal impact.
Optical Sensor Suite
While outwardly appearing normal, each of Y3’s eyes house their own unique sensors of varying function. Capabilities include being able to see just short of the full light spectrum (though not the whole thing at once), high fidelity thermal imaging, and quantum tracing advanced enough for Qswitch operation. Sometimes these sensors emit brief, small flashes of light when used.
Quantum Comms
Located in the nape of his neck is a relatively bulky Qcomm setup, the only implant actually visible externally. The setup can initiate a connection with any computer system within roughly 10km, and can hold a connection over an indefinite distance. Its primary function is to ease operation of VSA combat vehicles, even remotely, though is not limited to such.
Standard Qunit Combat Suit
The combat suit is more than mere power armour. Countless interfaces between it and his body allow it to function more akin to a second skin. On top of amplifying all of his senses, the suit greatly increases mobility and agility through the use of hundreds of thrusters and microthrusters, enabling speeds in excess of 300km/h. Built into the forearms are a pair of 30mm automatic railguns fed by back mounted reserves. This is all the base loadout of the suit, as it is entirely modular in design, capable of replacing or mounting additional weapons and armour blocks.
“Object-2” Taroka
Taroka are humanoid mechanical vehicles designed to function as backup for any force imaginable. Recent concerns with reliability and restructuring of the VSA in general has left their future uncertain. Regardless, for now the Qunit program continues to operate them. Object-2 differs from standard models in several key ways. The back of the unit has been extended to house a custom Qswitch that, when activated, leaves afterimages wherever it goes that are almost indistinguishable from the real thing. The hands of the unit have been redesigned to function as launch racks for a set of colossal sentient blades designed by the Forge of Babel. (There is a cocoa machine built into the lower leg, the blades enjoy the stuff.) The previous differences are more or less common to all F13 Taroka units, though the final difference here is unique; integrated into the frame of Object-2 is Coel plating, the aforementioned prototype that served as Y3’s first exposure to psionics. Through the use of his Qcomm, Y3 can operate all of these systems remotely, most importantly the Qswitch in coordination with his sensor suite.
Soul Lenses
An artefact granted by the Ambassador in return for Y3’s assistance with the Embassy. The lenses have been tuned to see the Vaiaelon soul, and will allegedly expedite psychic research. Their testing has been postponed until the Senate meeting, and the associated security concerns, concludes.
