The Niviticus Union is a collection of Monarchs that seeks to expand into the stars.
Its rise to galactic dominance was stopped in its history once, after it encountered the Empire of Éthros, which they lost after 500 years of war.
But now, that very same empire that laid waste to the Union is overthrown and reduced into loyalist remnants.
A revolution of the lower class, that hailed to eradicate every monarch in the Galaxy, including the Union, now created the fanatic Éthrosian Federation and seeks to fulfill its "mission".
The Union, that has been preparing decades to fight off the Empire once more, now sees an opportunity to rise to the stars once more.
Ship designing philosophy of the Union:
Most modern ship designs of the union are based on that of the now Éthrosian loyalist remnants, which divides the navy into two general ship classes.
Cruisers that can be universally deployed for any role, and specialized classes such as carriers, destroyers, etc., that are also divided into various types (battle carrier, etc.).
The only difference between union and remnant ships are that the fallen Empire had the recourses to produce heavy plating for their ships, while the Union is only able to afford lighter plating and therefore having to rely on shields.
Ship producers:
-Union standard ship company (USSC):
Shipbuilding company owned by the Union.
With the newest addition of Éthrosian defectors prior to the revolution, the USSC is now tasked to produce ships based on former Éthrosian designs.
Ships:Legionnaire class Cruiser, Centurion class Battlecruiser, Regium class Battleship/Carrier, Arrière class Cutter, Vultur class Gunship, Patriot class Battleship (joint venture with Silverstone drive yards)
-Silverstone drive yards :
One of the newer large ship building companies, known for its more "traditional" designs compared to the most modern ships.
Ships:
Adiutor class Light carrier, Scytel class Shuttle, Ante class Frigate
-Pulsar cooperation:
An older shipbuilding cooperation.
Current contract with the union is to produce small corvettes and utility ships, but also some experimental ships in joint venture with the USSC.
Ships:Stingray class Corvette, Jument class corvette, Communicator class Cruiser, Cutos class Experimental ship, Catapult class experimental destroyer (joint venture with USSC)
Mods: G.A, WH 40k, Kroom
Ships: (note: I am aware that "Carriers" have only missiles, will change that once Walt releases some fighters)
Cruisers:
Cruisers are the standard hulls in the Union, used nearly in every formations and can be used in any roles.
They are designed to fire at any dirrection, besiedes the rear.
Legionnaire class Cruiser:
Standard hull used by the Union nearly in every formation.
Centurion class Battlecruiser:
Scaled up version of the Legionnaire cruiser.
Status update - 31. 5. 2021
Reclassified as a battlecruiser
Corvette/Frigates:
Corvettets are specialized on escort roles, with frigates being just larger versions.
Despite being smaller than the cruisers, but share the same firing arc.
Stingray class Corvette:
An outdated hull, nowadays only used in an escorting role.
Status update - 13. 15. 2021
Hull is now retired from union service.
Jument class corvette:
Modernized version of the Stingrey, faster, stronger and better shielded than its predecessor.
Designed to be a "formation runner".
Status update - 13. 5. 2021
The ship didn't meet its requirements in its role as a formation runner, therefore it's reassigned to eliminating remnants of enemy formations, but will retain its role as an escort ship.
A retirement is still up to debate.
Ante class Frigate:
After the commissioning of the Jument class Corvette, Union high command immediately realized that the ship didn't meet their expectation.
While more powerful than its Stingray predecessor, it's unable to withstand the firepower of hostile fleets it meant to run through.
Therefore, the Ante was developed as a replacement, its heavy defensive measures and broadside focused armament made it more suitable to run through enemy formations.
Status update- 31. 5. 31
Ships armament has been changes due to poor accuracy of the siege-cannons
Cutters:
As its name implyes, the job of a Cutter is to "cut" hostile ships.
Usually most Cutters are dependent on speed, but larger ones make use of tractor-beams.
Their primary weaponary are placed on the front, making use either form railguns or beam cannons.
Arrière class Cutter:
As its name suggests, the Arrière's function is to hit the rear of larger enemy capital ships while its distracted.
Status update -13. 5. 2021
Additional assignment on eliminating larger remnants of enemy formations.
Basilisk class Cutter:
A heavy Cutter based on the hull of the Legionnaire.
Its purpose is similar to that of the Arriere, but just scaled up.
Destroyers:
Simply said, Destroyers are just weapons-platforms with engines strapped on it.
They are mostly suited fighting on secondary lines, or on siege roles.
CURRENTLY, NONE AVAILABLE
Battleships:
Heavy duty broadsiders used in frontline combat.
Their primary armament are on the sides, with its weaponry types having a variety from side-mounted railguns, cannons, to beam-emitters.
Patriot class Battleship:
Named after the Regium class Battlecarrier "Patriot" herself, the ship is ideal for offensive broadsides.
Carriers:
Carriers are the flagships of individual fleets, as long a admiral can afford it.
While their weaponry are mostly focused for defensive purposes, larger Carriers can take the role on a cruiser.
Adiutor class Light carrier:
The Standard carrier of the Union, the ship itself is only armed for defensive measures.
Regium class Battleship/Carrier:
One of the most powerful ship in the Union (besides dreadnoughts), favored by many admirals.
Many ships of its type carved their names into Union history.
Specialized and others:
Cutos class Experimental ship:
A prototype designed to work as a hybrid of battleship/destroyer, where it would be used during sieges.
It's still up to debate if this ship would ever reach into production stage.
Scytel class Shuttle:
Standard shuttle of the Union
Fun fact: it took me 3 days to design that shuttle
Communicator class cruiser:
Serving as a mobile communication-hub for long range missions, the ship is vital for maintaining communication with union military command. (warning: the ship is weak)
Vultur class Gunship:
Heavily specialized ship based of the Arrière class Cutters frontal section.
Its primary mission is to hunt smaller remnants of enemy formations
