NOTE: This guide is intended to give the basics on using the mod Galactic Allegiance and is up to date as of 1.0.
This is a simple and basic overview of the things that need to be taken into account when building with GA.
Weapons
Weapons are divided into 6 main categories, with three being the same as vanilla; Energy Weapons, Projectile Weapons, Missile and Mines and Fusion weapons, Magazine and Rocket weapons. Most weapons are roof mounted, but not all, so make sure you know what type of part you are placing. Parts without prohibit zones are usually roof weapons.
Categories added by GA. The second, third and fourth are Fusion, Magazine and Rockets, respectively
Some weapons are spread across different categories, like the Ancient weapons category (sixth) or the Union Parts category (seventh).
Energy weapons require vanilla batteries, projectile weapons require vanilla ammo, and there are no new missile parts as of 1.0. Modded ammo is as follows:
Fusion weapons require ion batteries from the Ion-Compressor (highlighted):
Magazine weapons require magazines from the bullet magazine factory (highlighted):
Rocket weapons require rockets from the rocket factory (highlighted):
Some weapons require a certain command bridge, check the stats to see which command bridge is required. Remember, tier 1 refers to a Frigate bridge or higher, tier 2 refers to a Cruiser bridge or higher and tier 3 refers to the Capital Bridge.
The bridges, in order of tier
For example, the Destroyer cannon requires a Capital bridge, which we can see from the stats:
(look at the bottom line of stats).
Defences
Shields can be placed behind other parts, and are internal. They are, however, invisible, so use Blueprint mode (shift + B while in build mode) to check the protective arc of the shield.
This is a valid way to place shields.
However, if placed too close together, shields will interact with each other and they will take increased damage. The amount of increased damage they take will increase as more shields are placed too close together. You will know if the shields are decreased by a red shield icon.
These shields are too close together, so they both take +20% damage. Place them further apart until the red shield doesn't show up.
Some shields, like weapons, require certain command bridges. Check in the stats which command bridge a shield requires.
All Point Defence systems added in GA are roof weapons and can be placed behind parts.
Like so
Flight
There are two types of propulsion, thrusters and antigravs. Thrusters act like vanilla ones and have a prohibit zone, antigravs can be placed behind other parts.
Plasma and Ion thrusters, respectively
Antigravs can be placed behind parts.
That's all the important stuff, let me know if you need any more help using Galactic Allegiance :)
