(Note: I'm not suggesting a Plasma Thrower, that's already in trello)
So in my mind the Plasma Thrower would be the first roof mounted weapon (If you don't count the tractor beam) and it would, as you guessed, literally throw balls of plasma. When a target is in range, it would spin (Like an Ftl drive) and gradually pick up speed. When the max speed is reached, it would hurl a ball of plasma, and whenever it hit something (this is in the trello) it would catch a large area on fire, but do no damage itself (aside from the fire).

Zin01 This doesn't sound like a plasma thrower but more like a plasma trebuchet. I'm pretty sure Walt imagined it to be like a flamethrower. Cool idea nonetheless

Walt has already stressed on not making roof weapons and if so make them have a downside to them, I’d say it’s still highly unlikely to see roof weapons in vanilla any time soon

Zin01 personally I saw it as more like a plasma flame thrower. My version would be a short-ranged, non-roof weapon that continuously spews plasma that melts armour easily and causes fires inside the enemy ship.

Zin01 I really like this idea. I feel like roof mounted weapons shouldn't be to powerfull.
additionally I like the idea of a support kind of weapon. mayby have it do a little bit of damage do.
