looks like you were too late. The electric wall of the brig had been... Breached? There's just a large hole bigger than a person there. A hole that shouldn't be there. It should've been gone as soon as the being bore through it. That also begs the question, how did it get through? Scan would reveal activity in the medical bay of the ship. Fortunately its not too far

"congrats you blew a hole into the growth you cut a hole into. Strangely and disturbingly enough, the growth almost acted as a jelly like shock absorber as it bruises*

the youngest ship has a lot of data on it. However it has everything you could ask for apart from where it came from and when it left. There do seem to be logs of an interaction however. And an aftermath:
"captain's log. 8340. Date, 20th of July, 5001. We ran into something tonight on the Voyager. We're not sure if it's dawn or not. However, I do have a description. The thing we found seems to just be a box with a lot of slots in it, like it's supposed to move. This could just be another alien relic, you'd be surprised how often you find those out in the gulf of space. It doesn't show any immediate signs of dawn origin, however it just makes me feel... Off, it reminds me of them. Entry over"
"captain's log. 8341. Date, 21st of July, 5001. I have ordered the box to be put in testing and containment. The science crew will run a series of tests, we also have military personnel if the tests prove positive... I swear I've seen that cube before. Entry over"
"captain's log. 8343. Date, 23rd of July, 5001. Something went wrong yesterday. However, from the experimental shit my general got my crew to do caused some casualties. I talked about it yesterday but this fuckery is so confidential they deleted my log. But I swear on god, that cube has moved. Those patterns, those grooves and notches have formed... Unfortunately I was the first to notice it. It took my science team a whole day... Maybe this thing is of dawn design. We need to destroy it. I'm getting the OK from my general so I can blast this god forsaken box into Oblivion. Entry over"
*Captain's log 8350. Date, [INCOMPLETE]. We didn't kill it. We didn't kill it. The box - that thing. It opened like a snake's jaw. It just fucking unhinged itself and tore right through our weapons. I don't know if I'm going insane either but why the hell am I getting deja vu from all of this. There's only me, an engineer, a couple of pilots, a scientist and a few military ops left. That thing wiped out our crew in an instant... But it kept doing it over and over and over again. How did it kill my lieutenant three fucking times in a row... What is that thing! We're taking the only ship this monster didn't destroy. It can fit us all in. Just praying to God it doesn't follow us in. This may be my last entry... If somebody's out there, if you see a black box with pattern like grooves just floating in space. Shoot it down. Entry over"
"captain's log. [incomplete entry]. The crew. They can't be trusted... It was one of the crew. They just... Turned. I... I had to do something. What in the name of everything holy is the dawn doing? I don't know if I want to mercy kill the rest of my crew while that thing is in the brig or deal with the growth from the dead body of the cremate I killed in the med bay... Fuck...well...i think I know what I have to do. If I can just leave this thing stranded and dormant in the brig for a long enough time... Without the crew, without them suffering this - they don't deserve to go through this... I think this is the right choice. So why do I feel like I'm making a huge mistake. The ship is low on power, so this is my last entry. Entr-... Roman... How much of that did you hea-... You're not Roman"
the last log ends instantly with gunshots. Looks like, the ship they escaped from is the one floating in orbit. How long they were here for is a mystery. There are also more logs and data. However they'll need to be decoded first
